Problem with Rsync

I jus setup the Disk to Disk backup using Rsync to do daily snapshots. However, it seems that on the second snapshot, the rsync is backuping up my whole HDD again! i have check that all the scripts are from the wiki howto for backup and my files on my Source HDD has not changed at all. Any one can suggest how can i go about troubleshooting this? TIA!

Hey andy, they recently rereleased Transmission and now its bundled with Clutch. Any chance of a new compile for the new version?

yeah, I am wondering about this. Is there a noob guide to upgrading the current Tranmission currently installed? possibly using wget or something?

Nowadays I seldom do compilation as Kylek is also doing compiling. Perhaps can wait for Kylek to do it. :)

Hi Guys, I will be getting the DNS-323 during comex. But before that I would like to ask a few questions regarding this storage.

I will be getting the DNS-323 with 2x 1TB HDD doing RAID 1.

  1. Any 1TB HDD to recommand? (I might be getting the WD 1TB)
  2. Doing RAID 1 with the DNS, will it be troublesome?
  3. I will be connecting the DNS-323 to my router and it be use togather with my rig, my upcoming WIND and my GF wind. Will it be hard to config?
  4. I will also wan to setup a ftp sever using this DNS-323 so I be able to access by files in my office. Is setting up ftp sever using this storage difficult??
  5. Lastly for my above configuration how will the transfer speed be like? For my rig I am using direct RJ-45 connection to my router (WRT54G v5) and for the WINDs it be WLAN.

1. WD GP, Samsung F1, Seagate 1TB all tried without problems
2. Its easy as clicking 1 2 3 just by following the on screen instructions.
3. There is nothing to configure. Just map the dns if u wan to have a Z: or etc appear in your computer
4. Just make sure ur isp does not block port 21. else just port forward to another port. for further question on this, read your router manual
5. This is a gigabit NAS. running on wrt54g only yields around 70 mbps knowing its low lan to lan throughput. for wireless, the most u can get is around 20mbps throughtput

Looks like Kylek already compiled it but hes still testing it out/writing a new guide as the entire core of the program was rewritten.

the seagate hdd appears to be hotter as compared to WD and Samsung

the easy search utility is just for dinging out the ip of ur dns and map the drive and to enable bittorent

my DNS-323 has been running 24/7 since i bought it last year

except for the occasional downtime when i install my 2nd 500gb, upgrade first 500gb to 1TB and 2nd 500gb to 1TB and etc

The fan ah.. u have to dissemble the nas with the risk of voiding ur warranty lor

and yes the fan is temperature controlled

bro emmm after reading alot on the dns-323. This little device seems very "chim". Looks like the person using this needs some knowledge on codes but I don have any. My basic usage for this device is only to backup using 2x 1TB (raid 1) and remote ftp 24/7.

can I see who is accessing my drives via ftp remotely?
can I set permission on who can access which folder?

Still very blur on this device.

Need Help:

I'd followed the instructions per the link bro richneo provided, however when I accessed the web interface or "clutch" and try, it gave me a "permission denied" error under the downloading section...

I had already "chmod 0755 -R /mnt/HD_a2/torrents" but still having the same error.

When I checked the preferences on the clutch, i noticed download path was: /
I tried changing it to /mnt/HD_a2/torrents , but it still had the same error.

Appreciate if anyone can give me some pointers here.

Yes, i used to have transmission 1.22 with clutch working flawlessly from Shadowandy's site instructions. I am facing the problem above after I tried to upgrade to transmission 1.32.

anyone else have any ideas? IF you need any info : log file or whatever, please teach me what to do to get the info you may need to troubleshoot....

thanks in advance !
