I don't miss NS although it was relatively exciting and fun for me. Reservist is fun .
If I could transfer my ict to you I would definitely give u every cycle of it.

Then your colleague very lucky and privileged. Not all companies are like that. Many of us come back from ict need to clear the piled up workload and might also need to work over the weekend during the ict itself. If nsmen do sales job, means less commission to earn. If do Grab, means no income and have to draw the low amount from ns rank pay.
To save u from misery, consider quitting your current job and go to one that doesn't require u to cover nsmen.

people who miss ns or ict are those with no commitments or liabilities one. ict is hellish for me, need to layang with clients, after that need to worry for kids. ns time is still OK except dead broke and meaningless time wasted

I never had to cover anyone's duties or anyone to cover mine during ICT. Reservist is basically free paid leave .

Nowadays, ICT reali filled wif classroom sessions for admin matters, safety briefing, refresher course. Where got time to go chiong PT daily.
Most xiong will be outfield. But even in outfield most of the time is also waiting either in the training shed or at the deployment ground. Follow motion onli.
