Have u solve the connection issue? I also faced this issue previously. Due to some unknown reason, the pairing of rm pro to home wifi is a pain to connect.
The only way which I was able to connect is by creating a guest wifi network WITHOUT setting a password. However I only set and allows certain devices MAC ID to connect to the open wifi. One of it of course is rm pro and my phone which I used to setup the pairing.
** username and password has already set to simplest form and on 2.4GHz but cannot pair
i recently just changed router and changed my SSID and password. so i had to do the whole setup process again. I agree its a bloody pain in the arse to setup everything.
what i did was a factory reset of my RM pro, using a PIN and press the reset button till the blue LED is fast blinking. I'm using the new Broadlink app. Connect to my 2.4G wifi and use the "add device" function in app.
it wasn't able to scan new devices but allowed me to add via SSID of RM Pro. (meaning i need to connect to the rm_pro SSID in my wifi setting) after that it worked. then next is the pain to add all my S1 Alarm Kit, Power Extension, and Light switches.
my S1 Alarm Kit cannot be added at all no matter how i try. I have to go back to the old e-Control app, add them via QR Code of the devices (the new Broadlink app when i scan the QR code tells me unknown device!). Then save them to my cloud account. Then go back to Broadlink app, do a refresh, then a prompt "New Devices found. Do you wan to setup?". After that i manage to add the Alarm Kit, Door Sensor and IR sensor.
Lastly are the light switches. As they are not Broadlink branded, but 3rd party supported by Broadlink, there is also no way to add them via the app. I have to use the RF Remote to add them by RF scanning (Lucky i bought the remote last time). The Broadlink app takes quite an effort to scan the RF signals. I have to repeatedly press the button of the switch i wan to pair. Most of the time it fails and have to try and try. Its really not easy and i'm glad i finally got all light switches to pair.
