Hi,

Am using the econnect 300k now. Speed is relativeky good, good enough for me. But am in Yokohama now so maybe thats why, becos in the city. Will let u know when i am in the Kyushu countryside.

It's essentially bmobile's u300, using the ntt docomo network, without the hassle of activation.

I also planning to go for this e-connect wifi to go package too
At least ios7 will work

As I will bring my 5s & s4

I used mifi before with iPhone, can detect your location on apple maps and google maps, although I'm not using econnect but should be the same.

yeah, mifi acts like a mobile personal router only. The phone will have to provide the gps.

so with the phone tag onto mifi, it still can function as in google map ?

For sure, yes. Every thing that uses data will be pumped through the mifi. The phone will then come "alive" with everything that requires data, that includes gps(google map, A-GPS), web surfing, whatsapp, viber, email etc. :)

These days, I always get the bmobile's 1gb data sim card whenever I go for my Japan trips. The connection is reliable and fast. At day 14, my total data usage was only below 400mb, even though I tend to upload pics on whatsapp and facebook, as well as surf websites (japan-guide and hyperdia). So 1gb data should easily last for the max cap of 14 days, unless you keep watching video streaming.

I have used econnect S-072 (WiFi-To-Go). Its damn easy to operate. Instructions given were CLEARLY stated. Just follow it and nothing will go wrong. The more days u rent, the more discount they give.

The only thing is the battery doesn't last long enough (abt 4-5 hrs), though they did give extra battery (1-2hrs). So do use carefully. Off it if not using.

Tat 1 week in Japan, 3 of us had no problem with the speed. And even use viber to call.

I'm interested in using a mifi device, but seems like a lot of them don't deliver to Haneda airport. I'm arriving at Haneda early morning, and I'll be staying at a hostel rather than a hotel, so I can't have it delivered there. Any suggestions?

Global Advanced Communications has option for Haneda, although with additional cost. I think it should not be a problem sending to a hostel, you can contact Global Advanced using email and ask about it.

Which to get ?

I can't make up my mind.

Hope for some advise.

I will be at Osaka for about 9 days.

a) Should I take Bmobile SIM card @ $3980?
Disadvantage - need to order online 7 days prior to arrival. Before I leave Osaka, the SIM card already expire mean I can't use it on my day 6th / day 7th.

Advantage - just only the SIM card

b) Wifi package fr Econnect (Wifi-to-go 300K) @ $4,570
Disadvantage - how long can battery last? So many stuff to bring out during sightseeing.

Advantage - can share/use up to 5 devices.

I think you misunderstood b-mobile start date. You indicate the start date. Meaning if you arriving on 1 Dec and you want it to start on that day, you have to tell b-mobile during the ordering process.

"d. Please note that the countdown on your 14 day service period starts automatically on the Service Start Date you select during your purchase. This will happen regardless of whether you are able to use the product or not (including whether or not delivery has been completed)."

http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/note_1gb_m.html

Using your phone as hotspot also can support a few more devices, but mifi is better geared for that kind of job though.

They only need 1 week lead time for the processing/delivery. So you just need to place the order on 24 Nov and ask to turn on the service on 1 Dec(indicate during the ordering).

So long as the order page allow you to select the delivery date, you should be fine I think. Send them an email to remind them this is a short lead time order. Also, they don't do weekend or public holiday delivery.

I just did a simulation on ordering, you will see the earliest deliverable/start date is 24 Nov and the last possible is 4 Dec. So there you can judge yourself how you want to order it. But one thing I am puzzle is why they list weekends as delivery dates too, maybe they equate delivery and service start date as the same.

Good luck.
