Hey, i think you have good intentions. In fact, i was one of the people who messaged you and you directed me to the Dr Ong's clinic, and i did go for TCM sessions for about 2-3 months. However in the end, after finding the TCM treatment too expensive, i am healing on my own without all your recommendations of TCM, magnetic resonance, dietary restrictions etc.

Personally, i wouldn't recommend all these because they have no scientific basis, but the phenomenon of steroid addiction is well documented is medical literature. Some people react very differently to steroid addiction and take years to heal, and i feel that you may be unintentionally psychologically harming some people by promising people a cure.

Hi guys...just found this thread...I have had eczema (doc at NSC classified as Atopic Dermatitis) since I was young due to my asthma condition. Althought the eczema has gotten better now (less scratching, less itch) one major problem is the discoloration of skin around my armpit...I had asked the doc at NSC if there are any creams for it but it seems like there is no cream for this discoloration....

...

Hi Justin, discoloration can take months to clear up. I do not know of anything that might speed the process up, but its good news that your eczema is getting better.

As for whether your eczema will clear up by 18 to 21, no one can tell because the cause of eczema varies for different cases. Eczema is a multifactorial disease, meaning there are many aggravating factors for your skin barrier to break down and get rashy. They can be:

External factors
1)Sleeping area has high density of dust mites.
2)Using soap while bathing can be harsh on the skin.
3)Cold/dry weather.

Intrinsic factors
1)Stress.
2)Genetic defections in the skin(they can range from severity - some people have to deal with eczema all the time, while others usually only experience eczema in dry weather)

Eczema is just an umbrella term for different types of dermatitis, so probably yes, but if there are other symptoms cropping up with your flaking eyebrow, go get it checked.

Hi, I believe I have eczema (since polyclinic doctor said that), it's on my neck, fingers, arm and legs, they gave me steroids, but now those areas I applied are darker than other parts of my body and stretch marks can be seen... Any cream to get rid of those dark patches and the stretch marks? The moisturizer I am using doesn't really seems to be working...

Coconut oil is a no go from wat i read. U see the dermatitis is caused by yeast. Yeast feeds on oily to break down into FAs. Face oil + coconut oil = Hosehliao.

U reduce the symptoms but the yeast grows and will strike with vengeance.

However i read some + reviews abt ACV. Might give it a go one day if mine flared up...

polyclinic? not sure whether its enough.

I went to National Skin center and later private clinic...more exp medication but more worth it. What steroids you using? mine is Elidel but now lesser usage already.

Anyway drink more plain water, dont stress too much and sleep early !

For people with eczema, when bathing use a showergel, avoid using harsh soap or bath foam with paraben. Best is use baby shower gel, some brands to recommend, Johnson&Johnson, Eucerin, StIves, Californiababy, all can be found in watsons. After shower immediately apply moisturizer. If sweating, faster dry and apply oil to the affected area.

For Normal moisturizers, I recommend this

Baby oil, aloevera gel for those with not very severe eczema also recommended.
If severe and with eczema around the mouth, see doc to get steroid cream.

A thread to share experiences and methods, great!:s12:

I am 32, I had eczema on my hands since before I started Pri school. You do the math. Took me the first 10 years to figure out I am allergic to eggs and all foods that had egg as an ingredient. Guess what is my favourite food?

I have tried TCM and used steroids all my life. All the doctors I visited in Singapore including NSC say I can never be cured and prescribed me steroids. The nearest I got to a cure was after visiting a dermatologist in Johor.

I never gave up hope of seeking a cure. And I might have found it. 6 months ago my wife recommended me a TCM physician at Rochor centre. Clinic is called Gingko TCM Centre 银杏中医针刺推拿.

The physician say that steroids merely subdue the symptoms and explained why eczema occurs (this is the same info provided by TS). Then he showed me pictures of patients who were much worse off then me whom were cured by him (aka track records). I thought to myself what do I have to lose to give it a go?

This is what he prescribed:
1) skin cream in a squeeze tube.
2) Herbal Vinegar for soaking hands
3) Oral prescription 2 times daily (powdered herbs in packets)
4) A bottle of disinfecting powder to use before bath

Once I started his treatment, I stopped the steroid creams totally. He said it will interfere with his medicine and increase the treatment period. And that it is up to me whether I want to or not.

Anyway, 6 months later my condition has improved alot. Still has eczema, but I'll see what happens as the medicine seems to be working well.

Hi. Have been suffering from eczema for about 6 years now. The eczema started when I went to the beach and buried myself in the sand. Got a horrible horrible red oozing itchy wounds after that. My eczema was so bad that I was referred from CGH derm to NSC. Have been an outpatient with NSC for about 4 years now. There was one period, O level period, it got so bad that oral steroids was used to suppress it. I was on it for about two months, 20mg per day. One time, it's enough. Over the course of steroids treatment I developed severe water retention and gained a lot of weight, had moon face as well. When I finish the steroid therapy, everything was going well for about 1 week and my eczema flared up badly, even worse than before I ate the steroids. Had classmates(I went for class BBQ) that made fun of me, saying I have AIDS, not to go close to them.
Over the years, I've found out what I am allergic to and what cream is good. I'm currently using Johnson's pH5.5 shower cream and Johnson's baby oil lite. Working very well for me. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me! :)
