Yes before covid it was much easier to get visa too. But 1 thing I don't like about their skills assessment is that your highest qualifications must be closely related to your field of work.

Went to check on it and realised that it was quite complicated,not easy to get a positive skills assessment.

Nowadays, retirement visas in Asia also don't have a pathway to PR. EU seems like a good option for long-term stay.

Just had a quick read, apparently if you become PR means that you will be taxed on worldwide income. Non-residents only taxed on portugal income.

No clue whether double taxation agreement will help with that or not.
