Housing standards here are terrible. I cannot emphasize enough that even most new build homes in Australia would not pass basic building standards regulations in the SG/UK/US/EU

actually safety wise it's quite safe la. only the walls abit thin and ya, the single glaze issue

sg doesn't have such problems because no seasons. sg houses also mostly rely on 3m film to ward off the heat

Tell me which suburbs in Brisbane. I'm looking to buy.

As long as it's not in a flood zone and no fire risk, I can put my money down for a 3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms in Brisbane for A$500k.

am in Perth .. went around . most housing sucks. looks like landed slums.
in fact Northridge hasn't changed much since 20+ years ago..

everywhere got pee smell, buildings look old..some are empty and look as bad as JB ulu areas.

got a few friends staying here , decent places are not cheap. CDB areas or next to casino min is $1m+ for 1-2 bedder and $2m+ for 3 or 4.

most people here drive cheap cars. Asians are the ones driving Porsches and BMWs. but plenty of old WRXs and supras type that have loud exhausts.

go casino , most people only bet $1 to $2.5 Aud. Singapore , majority bet $8.80.

my conclusion, majority of Australians are not rich at all. quite jialat.
don't think I can ever move here to retire.

boring place. good for people who have no purpose in life type , just want to relax and do nothing in life type.

cheap ? yes , some ulu place , house looks like crap type.. sure can find. not near good schools. everywhere need to travel 45 mins.

then realised here got simi weekend , public holiday surcharge like 15% when eat outside.

also many people here are low ses behaviour. think they very rowdy.

Your best bet there is working as lower rung jobs like cleaner which pay over aud20 per hour and falls under the tax radar if you schedule your job properly.
Still enjoying quality of life in a landed house driving standard jap cars, definitely not luxurious life zooming in a late model ferrari and living near the cbd though.
But that’s still hundred times better than most sinkies living in a hdbee and taking buses here.

To be honest, many of the new houses built in the past 10 years are of very poor quality. Most of these houses look good at the start but are not functional. And the walls are paper thin because they use lightweight timber framing here, which means that the insulation is poor too.
