sighsss....

migrate or not....end of the day, is their tai ji and their personal choice la.

SGD keeps going up, COL and inflation also keep going up. Provided your salary is beri beri high range like those minoster standard lor...or else is just normal PAPER and ASSET RICH, CASH POOR lor....

I just sharing what I know from own experience and what other SGreans who migrated say.

Migrate also doesn't mean won't be asset rich cash poor. Of anything asset poor cash poor also.

Is up to people Tai ji if they need my warnings from experience.

I would love to but the salary in Sydney is too low; it is way higher in Perth.

And the housing prices here are still quite cheap. So Perth is kind of the "goldilocks" region in regards to salary and housing prices.
Haven’t heard about your interstate move. I hear there’s lots of Sinkies in Perth, anything parts of Perth that attracted more Singaporeans to live in?

All earning low pay. In some cases the lowest pay possible.

I was chatting with other SGreans who have migrated. All regret doing so. Reminiscing how the SGD was lower than said country in the past and is now higher and lower income tax. And salaries in SG are higher. Plus capital appreciation (tax free) of SG HDB flat and private property.

The smart ones moved back to SG.
Capital Gains are also tax exempt if you live in the property you own in Australia.

There are more than just money when considering which country to live in.

I am not here to say who is right or wrong to live in Singapore / Australia.

They all have some driver that makes them stay / move. In Australia the environment is different, probably more so for children and schooling.

My cousin's children will have tuition after school and tuition on the weekend, plus self homework.

They simply cannot believe when they are told my children have no home work (also primary school) and we are the rarer case to do additional tuition. They told me they do not wish to go back to SG.

Or you rather your parents do it secretly?

I would say they probably pressurized you into it and you also had the option not to do it if you really didn't want to. You gave in to the pressure.

Again, I would advise to let go of this and work on the relationship and see if you are truly happy. Your parents had good intentions and you could have called it off totally if you really didn't want to further with the guy.

I can relate to this.

"Pressurised" is honestly an understatement. I really have alot to say about that but I shall refrain from washing my dirty linen in a public domain.

It's an option of course if you wish. You don't have to be a trophy wife. Also consider with funding you could create a medical empire in Australia or Singapore. Don't underestimate the potential there.

The fact you say things like "objectively he is a good " catch and he is patient etc. Tells me you are likely going to go with it.

Give it time.

Best of luck.

Put it this way. You have a "good" dilemma.

I am more than able to support myself, my partner, my parents, and any children with my current salary if need be.

I honestly don't need nor want anyone's else money or influence.

I may have my opinions on things, but I am an objective person, and would call a spade a spade.

I'm guessing they probably (emotionally) blackmail you with something.

If you are so sure you can't get over this, be sure to be frank/blunt with the guy asap.

Sounds like you are not happy.

Then be decisive and stand up for yourself. Call it off and move on from this.

Why are you still mucking around with that guy you have no feelings for (it seems?)

It's so not you.

Do you guys transfer money from SG to Aus?

What's the cheapest way to do so besides bringing cold hard cash?

My mum used to send via TT decades ago. Was going to do a bank transfer but am also looking at transferring using Wise. Still quite alien to Wise.

I use Wise, it's fees are good (but dunno if the best) and easy to use. If from SG can even PayNow the money to Wise and it'll be in your specified currency almost instantly either for you to use in Wise (you can use thru card) or transfer your Aussie bank account quite fast.

But not for large amounts of money,

I'm just about to sign up for Wise.

Read a bit about it and still not 100% sure on the procedure.

We are using Comm Bank.

I have to transfer money from my SG bank account to Wise, then transfer to Comm Bank?

You can set it to transfer directly between your two accounts in SG and AU. Or you can put it in wise and then send it to your bank accounts or convert currency when you are ready, both ways work.

This is not via Wise ya? Or how can this be done via Wise?

Wise has better rates as compared, after adding up the fee (agent fee for the bank).
