anyone can recommend supplements for the joints, old dogs?

my dog's back is quite hunched, due to his age and sh|ting habits and lately his legs tend to bend less often, problem is he is toothless and he did not eat the supplements the pet shop recommend

recently one of my bulldogs refused to go for walks. even though its at night when the weather is cooler. ive tried choke chains but doesnt work.

i was thinking how caesar millan said about assertions so im quite firm instead of coaxing her. but she refused to walk and put her head on the ground .

tried luring her with food but after awhile it doesnt work.

please advise

However constant wear and tear due to the patella coming out of place predispose your dog to arthritis so give joint supplements like glucosamine + chondroitin and fish oil. J/D diet by Hill's has both but I personally feel its not enough. Can also give pentosan polysulfate to protect the joint

I dont know but normally pet owners dont go to the vet to seek help until their pet is in pain. I dont think there is a recommended age.

Fish oil is good for anti-inflammatory, joints and for their skin. Dogs on fish oil I observed have better coat.

fish oil is the same soft gel capsule as human consumption ?
break open and squeeze onto bread or put intact capsule inside bowl with food ?

Old dog liaoz, need to watch your dog's activity level, make sure your dog doesnt do anything crazy.

Yes but the rule with feeding anything new to a dog is to give a tiny bit first before giving more. A 5kg JRT probably does not need the entire 1000mg standard human fish oil capsule so I'd start with 500mg first

my dog should be slipped disk this time ....
blood test is fine

now must bring up her appetite and feed her well before the painkillers end in a few days
next 4 weeks she will be fenced up to only roam in a 4 square meter area

the vet very good , check everywhere ... explain everything

Went to a very bad vet for my puppy's jab. The vet reeks of smoke. Never check for anything. More interested in making $. Tell me to get a better vaccine then get this and that. I said No then face black black. The staffs also dont care, take weight also never look at the scale. Ask me to read it out.

my dog ard 5-6kg too. the vet advised me to give 1000mg fish oil once in every 1-2 days apart.

i simply push the capsule down in his mouth.. i ever tried to break open the cap but he dun seem to like

if nt wrong most clinic will.ask owner to put pets on weighing scale n read it out. common practice ba.

first time i heard of "better" vaccine thought all.basic vaccine cover more or less the same unless u r talking abt other type of vaccine e.g heartworm.etc

Slipped disc? IVDD you mean? If not too serious, conservative therapy is enough if not will need surgery and not many vets in SG will know how to perform a hemilaminectomy

Cant rmb what he said. Just say its very good, blah blah blah. $50+? He doesnt know the price also. Wears polo tee and very unprofessional. So i just take the basic vaccine and go off
