Hopefully this thread will still be around in 7 years when I formally retire. Currently still working but semi-retirement mood, just enjoying life as it goes, traveling more, enjoying my hobbies more.

I think I will still be around in 7 years. Hope so.
Can consider you already retired
Retirement in different generations is different.
You can share your travels here. Hobbies too.

I just returned from Yunnan last month, heading to Hanoi and Sapa later this month, going to Finland in autumn next year. My wife doesn't like the cold so we're avoiding the winter season. Haven't planned anything else in between so far.

Started rollerblading/inline skating last year, but old liao so it feels like it's taking me a long time to learn. I really enjoy it and can see myself doing it till old age. Wish I have more energy to skate more regularly though, right now I'm finding it hard keeping up with my weekly workouts/runs and skating because of other commitments. I'm taking it easy at work, but still doing it full time, maybe consider reducing my work days to 3 or 4 days a week in another 2 years or so.

Are you running your tradie business or have you retired already?

Woah inline skating! Cool!
Lots of traveling! Nice!

I still do some work on the side. But minimal. 1 day a week.
Lots of free time for me.

With combination of ur cash savings, and follow by ur cpf payouuts, then including passive income, if any

technically can tong with cash savings alone from 55 till 65, then draw from FRS, if really want to retire

but from then on, have to live within a budget of ard $2k from 55 till 65, then from 65 collect FRS monthly payout of ard $1.7k

but at least a basic safety net is established

Retirement mean no job mean no income...... mean have to eat yourself...

So most people if have job... won't retire that easily...

So ideally, have to be at 55.
Reality: Employer, economy and inflation got their own target for me.
Strategy is buy assets instead of liabilities, invest every month, clear debts early, and keep expenses low.
Hopefully retire because want to work, not because need to work. If cannot, then become full-time uncle at coffeeshop giving free investment advice.
