Boycott these 2 shops:

Boon Lay Place

Blk 221 Boon Lay Place #01-196
Blk 221 Boon Lay Place 01-202

Attempted to charge me $10 for $8 plan. When asked why there is an extra $2,

#01-202 said it's an admin charge, port-in charge. If you can take it, then pay $10.
#01-196 just do not want to disclose say it's $10. kthxbye
Do it online, and I think this might be nearest from there...

Thank you. I tried another bengz shop nearby, and they are charging me $8, instead of $10. Really ah, all these bengz shops really bengz. So i applied and got the sim to port.

maybe next time when I port in to eight, I will pick up the sim card from this shop.

Just checking, do you consider the above shop as Ah Beng retailer? How is the collection process? Did the retailer hard sell and ask for add. charges?

The port in process seems rather long for my 2nd card today. Activated yesterday at about 3pm. At about 11pm received SMS have successfully activated my line and at the same time my Vivifi card got no more signal, so swop out to Eight sim card.

Only today morning at about 9am then received SMS port-in request successful, so the whole night my main number got no way to use.
so your port in is 26th and it's done on the same day?

Have you guys encountered when signing up from authorised retailers a.k.a bengz shop, asking $10 for $8 eight plan?

Was looking around some shops and when I asked them, they all ask for $10.
Encouraging you to use your cdc voucher

This is one of the retailers in Eight's list of SIM Pick-up Points, from that link I shared earlier. Posted it as it looks to be the nearest to Boon Lay. I've never gone there myself.

Other than the Ubi Service Centre, I normally don't go to retailers unless I know them from previous transactions or recommended by someone.

But I did go to the Tiong Bahru retailer that's also on the list, coz that's where I picked up my $0 SIM cards back in May. This time round I picked up the SIM card for the port-in that I registered online, using SingPass.

Experience was good. Lady at the shop was very friendly and helpful with information. Very efficient service. No extra charge at all.

On the whole, I'd say that if you do it online and pick up the SIM card from one of the retailers from their list of pick-up points, you shouldn't have to pay further.

I did not want to maintain my credit card number in the system so I choose to sign up at retail.

Was not sure if sign up at retailers can get the SIM card on the spot. So I went to the Tampines retail shop that is one of the 4 Sim pickup point.

Staff ask me to access by Singpass and did port in request for me. Very quickly done. Paid $8 cash.

Got the SIM card at 4pm. Old card lost signal at 11 pm. Port in completed when I tried at 9am without issues

Edit : Others have confirmed that sign up at any retail shop can get SIM card on the spot.

As stated: from 11pm till 9am can't use my main line that's being ported over.

Same, I went to other retailer nearby to port, paid $8, get sim immediately, activated. And yes, no need for credit card number in system. Applied via singpass at the shop.

So the long list of retail shops indicated as for purchase can do the signup and also collect sim card immediately ?

hmm, if you access Singpass mean sign up online.

I just tried using eight.com.sg and try to use SingPass to signup online, then the website prompt me to go to the 4 designated pickup points to collect the sim card. (Trying for fun - didnt signup)

349 from challenger. I plan to use it till it dies, so hopefully more than 3 years. Deteriorating speed is not a concern as long as I can stream youtube without buffering.

Functons are ok, can see data usage, can manually change band, lock cell tower, can read sms from the Deco app. I made a call to the sim and it did not disconnect the internet.

Speedtest is consistently about 20-100mbps on band 3, 60mbps on B7, 20mbps on B8. Speeetest with the same sim in phone is 180mbps.
Can broadcast into 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands? Coz my robot vacuum only can use 2.4ghz band. When you type band 3, B7 and B8, I don’t know what they referring to..

No. I went to the Tampines retailer which is one of the 4 Sim card pickup. He ask me to scan to login to Singpass at the shop and did everything else.

I did not do online registration "myself".

I see, so the retailer is helping you to sign up using your Singpass
