So if sign up at one of those on that long list, how to get sim card ?
similar to other telcos, sign up at the retailer and they will issue a sim card / initiate a port-in etc

but not sure if retailer may make mistakes, e.g. type wrong name. So best is to sign up online and collect sim card from the 4 designated pickup points. At least if there's any error / mistake, is our fault :ROFLMAO:

check FAQ

How does port-in work?

  1. Switch to eight and bring your old number (it’s called “port-in”).
  2. We will assign a temporary number for you while we undergo the port-in process with your existing operator.
  3. Pop in your eight SIM card or activate your SIM card at our eight retailers/ service centres and our retailers will complete the steps for you!

What do I need to take note of when I port in?

Ensure the following information is the same as the existing plan that you have with the telco:

The name registeredThe ID number
The form of ID (E.g. If NRIC is used at your previous telco, please submit NRIC when registering with eight)
Make sure the plan is not suspended/ not overdue bill with existing telco

A lot ppl using SIMBA and Eight since both offering the most affordable plans

maybe can consider changing the Thread title /merging these 2 threads (if there is any SIMBA Thread)

Ok I bought Deco X50 4G router liao. Waiting for delivery.

also waiting for delivery of my eight data only SIM card. I picked the $18 plan. Will track data usage then see if can downgrade to $8 plan.

I’m more worried about whether the router will have signal strength to reach level 2 of the maisonette. Plus, at home, I only get 2 bars signal for eight SIM card. I don’t know if this will also affect router signal strength and speed

hi, has anyone tried roaming in Japan? somehow my network keep disconnecting within a few minutes and it will only connect back when I toggle airplane mode on and off, after which it will disconnect again within another few minutes. it's not just data that disconnected, my entire simcard shows "no service" with the exclamation mark

already tried restarting phone, APN already using shwap. I tried to manual select network to KDDI but again after few minutes it will disconnect. also my battery drains super fast (I think it keeps trying to reconnect?)

btw no issue with WiFi.

Appreciate if anyone can help to resolve this issue, TIA!

They may presently be considered the most affordable but they're different telcos with their own offerings after all. What's more one is an MNO and the other an MVNO.

Merging the threads may end up having information messed up all over...

As it is, many are already (or so they've claimed) having trouble catching up on information shared here, can't check back etc, and we've been seeing too many repeated questions.

Just sign up for eight. Tomorrow collect simcard. For the port in process must I cancel my current telco? Or once port in liao current telco auto terminate?

Both 2.4 and 5 are enabled by default. The router is wifi6 so hopefully can reach upstairs. Or place the router at your stairs, middle of house. If still cannot, then have to look for a deco mesh to extend the range

Thanks for your advice!

I went to buy Deco X20 mesh units coz I won’t be able to place the router in the middle of the house.
