When should I use app to upgrade plan if my current plan renew on 8th ??

https://www.eight.com.sg/faq-manage-my-account

  • What eightplans can I change to? Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
    • Learn more about our plans here ($0, $8 and $18 Mobile Plans).
    • Change plan can be done via eight account or simply head down to our eight retailers/ service centre.
    • Your latest entitlements will take effect as soon as you upgrade. For downgrade, your plan will take effect after your current cycle of plan ends.

https://www.eight.com.sg/faq-renew-recharge-and-billing

The billing cycle is 30 days. If you sign up and the SIM card is activated on 1st July , the first plan will be billed directly on 1st July. Subsequently, the payment will kick in after 30 days.

I guess the above should give you a better idea?

friend went to city square and mid valley....despite setting to auto network, or manual selection of network, turn on / off phone, turn on / off data roaming manually....everything done for troubleshoot....still cannot use!

the experience may or may not apply to all users, but it certainly put me off changing to eight.....
the samsung A55 device is used less than 6 mths, and friend is not "tech-challenged" user. so no need to jump to conclusion its user problem. it's just sharing....good if it didnt hap to you.

Phone or user problem. I've no issues using 8 since day 1 (inclusive 3 months free trials and 1 month dormant) and paying less than $4 a month. Perhaps you guys are better suited with MNO plans and need 24/7 customer service attention and help.

Search for this online and got the following answer.
"Does Samsung a55 have known network issues?" You can refer more details. Technology is advance but yet a mystery.

Yes, some Samsung Galaxy A55 users have reported network connection issues, including dropped connections, difficulty connecting to 4G/5G, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth problems, though not all users experience these issues.

Using eight on my Nothing 3A, funny the carrier name displayed is Starhub. Any other Android users using eight, does it show eight or Starhub as carrier?

You can always just sign up for a new line and trial for a while. If it works for you, sign up for a new line and port in. If it doesn't, throw away the SIM card.

No need to let one person's bad experience throw you off unless you're using exactly the same phone model, in which case I would avoid that particular phone model.

Truer words could not be said. Eight isn't suitable for everyone. So many other MNOs and MVNOs out there to choose from!

Mine shows up as eight.

It's really just a display issue on whether they show the MVNO or MNO name.

I tried using Eight for about a week to test if network coverage & speeds suit my general movement but unfortunately, really CMI for my situation. Requested for a port-in back to another telco but was advised that the IDs do not match up. However, I very clearly remember using the same ID (NRIC) to do the port-in to Eight and where I intend to port-out to.

Anyone experienced a similar porting out issue with ID mismatch and got it resolved? Sent an email to helpme@eight.com.sg but no response just yet. Thank you!

So no difference one? Just curious how come it shows as Starhub. I remembered it shows up as eight on my OnePlus 13 and iPhone 16 Pro Max. What Android device are you using?

Have you reached the 30 day mark with Eight yet?

Check out the CIS here: https://www.eight.com.sg/cismobile

Pro tip: For testing purposes, best to just sign up a new line rather than port-in.

No difference. You won't get faster speeds just because it shows up as Starhub and not eight. :ROFLMAO:

Solid find! This is probably it, I have yet to hit the 30 day mark Been suffering quite a bit with it, so couldn’t wait to get out. Haha. Thanks for the find, mate!
And yes, lesson learnt, always use new line to experiment.. Painful with high latency 😬

You play games? High latency is a common issue with mobile data due to the nature of open-air communications especially when travelling in tunnels or at high speeds.

It is good enough for general social media usage and watching videos.

No mate, I generally watch YouTube, surf Reddit & forums, text, and social media. However, in my home & work areas, the speeds are crawling for me and often takes awhile to load things or have full bars of signal but web pages will freeze, etc.

I’m using iPhone 14 Pro Max, tried resetting the network settings, re-insert the SIM, and restart my phone but seems the same. Is there anything else I can try, you reckon?
