I have already gotten a definitive answer from the horse's mouth. Here are the details of my correspondence with eight mobile. This should clarify all the queries and uncertainties you guys may have with regard to upgrading and downgrading plans:


I asked eight this: Let's say my $8 plan starts on 1st of every month and ends on 31st of every month, and I decided to upgrade to $18 on the 10th of this month. On the 10th, I log into my account and change my plan to $18.

Will I be paying $18, or it will be prorated to 2/3 of $18, and this new $18 plan will renew on 31st of this month?

Or will my subscription plan now be changed to start from 10th of every month and end on 9th of the following month? If so, will I get a partial refund for the $8 I paid for the initial subscription cycle of 1st-31st of the month?

Their answer: The plan upgrade will start immediately and the remaining days will forfeited.

Billing cycle will change to 10th and end on the 9th of the following month.

No refunds will be issued too.

This is only when you are doing plan upgrade. When you are doing the reverse, the change only takes effect at the end of the ongoing cycle, and not immediately when you apply for it.

Hope I have saved some of you the hassle and anxiety of guessing and speculating. Try not to upgrade too early in your current subscription cycle.
Nice of you to do so. However it is already in the FAQ, which I guess you didn't read:

"Your latest entitlements will take effect as soon as you upgrade. For downgrade, your plan will take effect after your current cycle of plan ends."

I had switched the SIM card to another phone, rebooted, manually search and manually selected eight network, etc etc. All the troubleshooting done. It is also interesting to note that on a couple of occasion, after rebooting the phone, it actually worked, but within seconds, when I made a second call or tried to receive a call a second time, it stopped working again
I look forward to your complaint to IMDA.

Looks like eight still have roaming issue with maxis since last week…
For better roaming experience have to manually choose u mobile

I've Eight with Hotlink, among others in JB, and I blame Maxis network. Not been good past months.

Anyone feel Eight network been especially congested last 2 weeks?

I can barely even load my shopee pages to browse let alone play YouTube.

This happens at home and when I'm outdoor (peak hour travel to work and off work already managed expectation to be literally unusable).

This morning about 10am surfing away from Buona Vista to Ubi station, EWL all the way, then bus to service centre. 6-year-old iPhone. Due to off peak?

Mine can't even load in open stations along West line (jurong east till redhill) during morning and evening peak time
your morning is not 7-8am evening not 530-630pm right? bec my shopee works perfectly 6pm can grab 25-50coins tree

Recharged my Eight plan today. Eight on Maxis seems to be performing as usual. Latency >100ms. No major surprises.

I believe due to increase in Eight customers base.
Nowadays my area using Tpg is getting higher speed constant 50Mbps vs Eight 20Mbps.

For new # line sign up, the 30 days start counting from the day you signed up or the day you get the physical sim card assusming you choose to have it mail to you?

Bundled roaming only covers group A.
Nepal is group D, you will need to purchase add on, and the price is very high.

Interestingly Nepal is under Simba's group A, which is included in the plan.
