I tried to search but did not give results.

I have multiple Eight SIM lines, and one of them is not reloaded for more than a month now and now on grace period. Can I port it out to another telco while not reloaded? Or should I load it minimum $8 first to make it active, and then port out?

Also, where can we see the payment receipt for active lines? I searched Eight help, it says can find after logging in to Eight account, but not able to see the receipt anywhere.

Thank you.

No idea about the receipt as I've never bothered.

As for porting, line has to be active during the process.

The only thing resembling "reciepts" is under Billing -> Recharge history.

Depending what you want to do with this information, if you want to perform a claim, i feel that the email sent out by Eight during renewal is quite ok to be used as it is, unless you need supporting information from Eight website.

Taking long time to load. Already toggle airplane mode at least a few times already. Not even a lot people around.

Felt Eight reception going downhill.
Many area around central and West just suddenly go network-less.
I'm playing game and watching YouTube thus the network cut is quite obvious.
Reception or throughput?

Reception (or coverage, to use another word) means your mobile device is connected to a tower and getting a usable signal. Eight uses StarHub's 4G LTE network in Singapore, and that network offers excellent coverage. The most challenging coverage areas tend to be deep interior spaces (such as a B2 level parking garage and elevator cars in the cores of large office buildings). StarHub does quite well comparatively.

Throughput means what data you can actually move across your mobile connection. That'll mostly depend on your network priority (which is lower with Eight compared to someone on a StarHub branded plan), competing demand, and the quality of the connection (whether it's better than usable). Voice calls and SMS text messages tend to get through even if your other data traffic (such as YouTube) is not getting through. If you can place a voice call but cannot load channelnewsasia.com (for example) in your Web browser then you've got usable (or even excellent) coverage but poor throughput.(*)

YouTube isn't a fantastic test on its own because it has its own share of problems from time to time — especially with how advertising heavy the free YouTube tier is getting. However, one thing you can do to have a better chance of watching uninterrupted video is to cap YouTube at 480p (or even 360p) when watching on a mobile device. At 480p you'll use about 560 MB per hour. Bump that up to 720p at 30 frames per second and it's more than double in terms of data consumption. Don't assume YouTube itself knows what's best; cap it. You've only got a ~6 inch screen.

(*) Although it's possible you've got some other issue, for example DNS lookups are having problems. You may wish to override the network carrier's DNS name server addresses.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I am referring to reception. I tried speed test and it still can achieve 100+mbps throughput.

Besides YouTube, I play online games and uses redfinger cloud android emulators which all yield no response and remote session can see 500ms to 999ms ping at certain areas

It's all open space such as Hillion Mall......Bukit Panjang cross junction beside Junction 10.......Jurong East MRT station......clementi and bonua vista MRT etc. Even CCK new opened coffeeshop at CCK center beside Lot1 also nil network despite signal showing 2 out of 5.

I'm not that unreasonable to expect coverage underground or in totally enclosed area.

And my spouse is using direct starhub......she still can get connections in areas my Eight network chokes (games freezing midway etc) and sometimes I had to ask her teether her network to allow me continue my game.

Then you have excellent or at least very good reception. You also have excellent throughput, albeit selectively.

OK, but if Speedtest (or speed.cloudflare.com) is posting wonderful numbers at the same time in the same place then you've got other issues.

If you suspect you're getting bad network routing, or if you suspect that Eight is selectively throttling connections to particular sites, then you could try starting a VPN connection and see if that helps with the specific sites you're trying to reach such as YouTube. (That's a bit technical, of course.) Not guaranteed to work, but every Internet service provider has its moments of bad IP routing and/or bad IP traffic prioritization.

You're getting great coverage if Speedtest is posting numbers like you're seeing. That's not your problem.

Potentially you could have a device-specific problem. If you're able to move the SIM to another device and retest, that would be interesting.

OK, so it's something different with Eight, probably differences in IP routing and/or IP prioritization for the sites you're accessing. If for example YouTube works great over a local VPN hop, there you go.

u are correct
I got
eight
Singtel
star hub
compared with eight vs star hub
normal use is ok on eight
but certain app is worst on eight

so if u feel it don't suite u
best to port out

A bit of a funny question but anyone know of a workaround to getting wallet balance to exact amount for renewal?
For example currently I have $6 odd number balance due to previous topup bonus promo.
On Shopee there are sellers selling topup of $2 wallet balance, but for excess amount e.g. $2.40.
Any other ways?

Just go shopee buy $2.40 x 3, then use coins to offset

login to your Eight account and topup there? I saw we can topup in increments of $1.

Anyone face same port out issue?
I port in to Zym from Eight but failed.
ZYM email below and been trying to reach out to Eight by email (3 days already) no response or acknowledgement.

Eight has no customer service no to call.
Their whatsapp chat is useless and keep response with same msg every time.

####################
We are writing to inform you that your number port-in request for xxxx is rejected by your donor telco, Eight. The specific given reason for the rejection is "Line is Prepaid".

If you wish to continue with the port-in, we kindly request that you contact Eight directly to update the line status. Once the line status is updated, please let us know and we will be able to reinitiate the port-in request again.

Important Note: If the Eight line is a prepaid number, please inform Eight to convert it to a postpaid service before we can port in the line. (Prepaid numbers cannot be ported in.)

So in summary.......Eight works great but my usage applications are screwing up.
My main mobile is Samsung s23 and I tested using iPhone 13 pro max to verify Eight network remains the issues in few selected areas.

But why M1 and Starhub direct telco works perfect in scenario where Eight failed? Many scenario i request tether sharing and I could immediately connect to my game and applications with no issues?

I don't have a VPN account though so can't do the technical troubleshooting.

On usability, can't be M1/starhub (direct telco not muvo) works flawlessly but my Eight choked.
