I'm at Yishun with great signal as well but speed is at crawling speed, was trying to load emails but not able to do so until I switch to my Singtel line.

Yes that happens to me as well with eight 4G. Sometimes even loading HWZ forum can be an issue. It will become even more obvious if I need to attach photos in Gmail.

Anyway, eight 4G is my backup line to complement my main Singtel S$15.28 per month SIM Only line, and it is good for roaming. I will keep the eight 4G line at least for the next 21 months (S$88 one for one top up offer in Dec 2025).

I have the same strategy as yours too, my main line is Singtel 15.28 and the Eight 4G 8 plan is my spare line mainly used for roaming.

Isn't it wonderful that you are not incurring any more expenditure on your mobile line for the next 5 years?

Highly likely to be around, Eight Mobile is directly under Starhub and even if it decides to shut it down, the existing users will probably migrates to its other subsidiary replacing with similar price plan. Same case for Giga.

That is what happened to SingTel heya where the users are migrating to SingTel hi! 4G postpaid plans. Wallet balance will be reserved.

Geenet and Changi Mobile customers can migrate to M1 Maxx. This is probably not guaranteed for MVNOs not belong to SingTel/StarHub/M1. For example, no automatic migration for ZΩH Mobile and Gorilla Mobile customers. But at least the users have the options to port out before the final closedown.

StarHub Happy Prepaid migration to the new StarHub Prepaid plan is a bit problematic though.
1) Only the balance value is preserved but not bonus data, bonus minutes and bonus values.
2) The new plans are classified as Postpaid as per IMDA classification. Some users may prefer to keep as prepaid and port out to SingTel/M1 Prepaid. The users can request StarHub to tag the plan as prepaid to facilitate the port out in this case, as per the report in this forum.

The problem with putting too much money in the wallet is that the balance will be forfeited when you port out. So you are kind of stuck with the provider.

Less a problem with eight as you can upgrade to 5G S$14.8 plan when needed which may perform better than the lower cost S$8 4G plan.

More problem with SIMBA if the network is not good for your local usage.

without touching on quality of local/roaming useage....

eight has the advantage that you can upsize/downsize plan, funded purely from the wallet. Each new plan fully benefits from previous 1-for-1 wallet topups

Simba is unable to do so. Each upsize/downsize requires additional payment for the new 30days. This way you don't get the full benefit of any previous 1-for-1 wallet topups.

this difference is why i didn't participate in the last simba update (ok, i was lazy to queue up :ROFLMAO: ). currently have enough balance to be comfortable, and yet not too much to walk away from.
