Upgrade to 8 5G or switch to simba ? Main line using zero 1.

What is the reason to consider the upgrade? Congestion on the eight 4G network?

If you are willing to pay, just go with eight 5G.

Based on my limited testing of SIMBA S$12 plan for one month, eight S$8 plan is better than SIMBA S$12 plan for local usage.

Basically anything else is better than SIMBA for local usage now that I have tried many plans on all four networks.

SIMBA is not bad for roaming, but eight is also good.

SIMBA is anything but fast...

Since both are no contract, you can always try by yourself to see which is better.

When I say "Basically anything else is better than SIMBA for local usage now that I have tried many plans on all four networks", that is based on my experiences, yours may be different.

Eight 4G is not that slow mostly unless it is near or at congestion, mine can reach >100+Mbps at times and 70+Mbps most of the time.

Depend on location. But mostly peak timing it is very slow on download eg less then 10mbps. Upload speed mostly faster eg 15mbps.

Non peak both download upload can reach more than 100mbps

Peak timing and locations sama sama for almost all MVNOs and Simba anyway so it is not an isolated issue for Eight. It is best to use it oneself to decide whether it suits you or not.

Hopefully they do some upgrades to their plans during this port in promo period.

Ported in to eight 5g from zym for the 2 months free promo.. then port in failed due to ID mismatched issue.
Not sure when can resolve.. and whether in time for the promo now...

T&c didn't say properly... Hence, I hope they port in my number in time and before 15 Apr 2026.
Is it normally Zym port out got ID mismatched issue? Or I'm just unlucky...

Both sign up using with Singpass.
I did a Zym help chat in Whatsapp, and they just said my ID is now opened to port out. Wonder if it is defaulted as locked to port out for safety?

Unlikely for the S$8 4G plan, not any time soon anyway.

However, for Senior Plan, Singtel and Gomo have the 5G S$6 Senior plan, Starhub 5G Senior Plan Passion Card offer is also at S$6. So I think there is a chance for eight to have S$5 or S$6 Senior plan in the future.
