if i just renew on the 4G plan, i want to change to 5g, i need to pay the full amount or its being pro rate ?

Upgrade is immediate, downgrade has to wait for the existing plan period to end

actually no international SMS for eight is actually a plus point. becos no matter how many times one enable/disable/renable iMessage or FaceTime on iPhone also will kena NO charge at all.

while Vivifi etc. all need to pay for the international SMS sent due to this.

Hmm, meaning Apple switches to an alternate method of registering your phone number when it fails to send the international SMS?
I've been putting off the setup of iMessage/FaceTime when prompted on my iPhone.

Hmm, meaning Apple switches to an alternate method of registering your phone number when it fails to send the international SMS?
I've been putting off the setup of iMessage/FaceTime when prompted on my iPhone.

i am not sure actually, probably eight explicitly allows for iMessage or FaceTime activation even it does not allow international SMS? This is why i said this is a very very good plus point for eight, no need to worry about this at all.

becos i know that iMessage or FaceTime activation requires sending international SMS to UK or something.

Good thing is that the activation of iMessage and FaceTime is very fast on eight, almost instant. Last time on vivifi, it takes quite some time before i can use the services.

It is not the best deal like they claimed anymore. Their previous port-in 88 days free is better.

Now it is only 2 months free and have to pay for the first month before getting the 2nd and 3rd month free.

Starhub says eight will focus on "5G scaling, ARPU growth" now that they see "early signs of stabilization -- easing of agressive offers".

But they did say "free months offers continued" so they are giving free months.

But I guess nobody understands how to associate "digital savvy" with giga...

Other than Travel eSIM, there is no much differentiation between eight and giga. Let's see what will Starhub do in 2026.

You can see giga is only mentioned to be for the "digitally savvy", not so sure if that means anything or not.

Because Giga users are digitally savvy enough to have a second line to switch over when things get too laggy.

no wonder i'm not on Giga - i'm a tech idiot !

With such awkward market positioning, i wouldn't want to be digitally savvy as well.
