now only 5Mbps. To be fair, can still stream 1080p YouTube video and web surfing decently. For what u can do on mobile phone, it is enough. Just that did not expect eight to throttle the speed while again giving crazy amount of data and now giving rollover data
I guess the generous data is given for local usage, the rest of the countries that tap to the local data pool is added bonus. 5Mbps is reasonable for roaming data, it is not really considered throttled speed too, throttled speed is those 0.5Mbps and below.

for eight 8.80 plan. does it use international roaming quota. or apac quota.

it seem to eat the international quota first but does not allow the apac to be used

this speed able to google maps, browse web, watch videos smoothly?
Google maps, web browsing and YouTube video streaming at 1080p no issue.

but if do personal hotspot to share data to laptop to do VPN etc. can significantly tell that now it is very slow. Even accessing outlook to download emails also take long time. Last time is faster.

Can i apply for 1 mth only for the International Data Roaming? Looking at more World wide Data roaming.

Can i apply and use for 1 mth and do not want to renew?

any fee will charge me for termination

if you are existing EIGHT user, just upgrade plan and it will be immediate.
Once you do no need the extra global roaming, just downgrade. Downgrade isn't immediate.

If you are not existing EIGHT user and don't need phone number, can look at the tourist plan https://www.eight.com.sg/mobile/dataonly-tourist-plans/

Where are you headed to that you need the global roaming?
Maybe can find cheaper alternatives on shopee / lazada from those shops selling esim

For that reason usually an immediate plan upgrade doesn’t make sense. Start with whatever data allotment you already have, and enjoy your trip. If you run out or get near the end of your current billing cycle, whichever comes first, consider your options then. Including…

…This’ll often be the winning choice. You can also check esimdb.com, and Klook seems to hand out free 1GB eSIMs frequently.

Note that Eight lets you choose the next Auto-Recharge plan so that you’ll automatically upgrade or downgrade at the end of your current billing cycle. Just look in the Billing section of your online account. Or you can turn off Auto-Recharge and consider your options then, within the 60 day grace period.

There’s also the “get your face out of your phone and enjoy your trip!” approach. (Doesn’t anybody know how to disconnect any more?)🤷

Thanks for the update.

Not sure if this lag due to June Holidays.

But if roaming lag is roam partner issue right, so strange all eight roam partners seem to lag recently.

I think most SG telcos route roaming traffic back to Singapore through a tunnel. Since that tunnel has limited capacity, performance can slow down when many users are roaming at the same time.

That also explains why IP lookup websites often show you as being in Singapore even when you're overseas. Your data is being routed back through Singapore, so websites see a Singapore IP address instead of one from the country you're visiting.

yes.

Roaming with Eight in Malaysia and Thailand is extremely slow. Signal can be full, and nothing loads

They give 528GB, but cannot use 1GB for a week's trip

Whatsapp works though
i experienced similar when i stayed in r+f, jb for a few days. in the day sometimes it cant even clock 1mbps. but noticed at night ard 11pm-3am it gets much faster ard 50mbps average. i was on eight 4g and i manually selected celcomdigi. i couldnt even connect to umobile as it doesnt show. maxis was worse than celcom

local to local is consider singapore outgoing call time recorded
location of where the second local number is does not play a part in the forwarding

I noticed considerably slowdowns while roaming in Malaysia, even scanning Touch N Go for payment can be a pain. I have another MVNO local line in Malaysia by Spark (Digi Celcom) formerly YooDo, it performs flawlessly whenever I use it.
