Wanna clarify on this… for this volte roaming, say when i’m overseas and wanna call a local number there or call back sg number, regardless a fixed line or mobile number, i just go my contacts and call as per usual? Any requirements on phone/hardware? I’m using the $8 one on my old iphone 11pro max. It’s a spare line that i would bring along during hols just for this overseas calls contingency… although i’ve never had to use it so far…

i think ur phone must support VoLTE (4G) as well.

no. IDD calls meaning u call from lion city. NOT in roaming countries.

if u can make calls within roaming countries, it does not deduct anything, it is free.

it is not stated in the dashboard. but anyway, 288 minutes is more than sufficient for anyone. so dun bother to check remaining quota also.

Indeed eight 4G is pretty bad for local usage due to StarHub 4G network congestion based on my testing. My S$3 StarHub Prepaid S 5G legacy plan is much better for my local usage as a backup for the main Singtel S$15.28 line.

But free roaming voice is useful when on travel, but the new StarHub Prepaid plan is also catching up (even with 25 free outgoing SMS).

In the end I will still keep eight due to the S$88 one for one top-up offer (still got 15 months to go).

No, I could not get good speed with StarHub 5G Prepaid S in 4G mode. It is not good either because StarHub 4G network is congested.

So you should try eight 5G first. Take note I say eight 4G is bad and not eight 5G.

By the way, there are reports saying StarHub Prepaid 5G has higher priority than eight 5G.

This is what I mentioned before.

I believe this is due to congestion of the StarHub 4G Core Network.

I only have eight 4G plan and the speed can vary quite a bit even when the 4G signal is good here in the Jurong West area (near to Jurong Point).

I can get pretty consistent 5G speed for StarHub Prepaid S 5G plan when the signal is good. On the other hand, if I force it to use 4G mode, the speed can also be quite different even when the signal is good.

Basically StarHub Prepaid 5G plan in 4G mode is also not good.

From my tests, from good to bad for local usage.
1) Any non SIMBA 5G plan (including Singtel S$15.28 plan, M1 Maxx, CL 5G, StarHub Prepaid 5G) is better than any pure 4G plan
2) SingTel hi! 4G plan
3) eight 4G plan and CUniq 4G plan
4) SIMBA

Of course everyone may have different use case and your results may be different from mine.

I guess there is still throttling of speed ((again at 5Mbps+_)

just could not confirm the trigger point. Probably after used up certain amount of roaming data per day.

yes, now is constantly at 5Mbps or below speed.

just enough to stream 1080p youtube video and equivalent tasks but nothing else.

but given $4 per month, with free calls in roaming countries as well and no extra charge guaranteed.
can only say, what you get is what you pay.

I think 5g not support calling, it will auto drop to 4g to make call
But if on 3g then you have to manually connect to 4g else no in out call possible

He just told me his 5G access was cut recently. And he immediately feels the differences. eight 4G is quite a bit worse than eight 5G for his use cases, for example, streaming music may become intermittent. Take note he does not even have difficult use cases like underground MRT ride during peak time.

I suggest him to upgrade to eight 5G S$10.8 plan after this billing cycle.

nope..it does support 5g calling...I lock the signal only 5g..still can call out and receive call.

He just told me his 5G access was cut recently. Effective only $1.40 on top of the $4 eight 4g plan. If really want 5G no reason not to get it.

even that, it is merely $2.80, the price difference is to minor for anyone who needs 5G.

So guys i realised something... 6am to 5pm and 8pm to 6am... Eight speed is (i am using Senior 4G)
download =110mbps and upload = 40mbps
5pm to 7pm\8pm.. download = 5mbps and upload = 25mbps.

I couldn't download my latest iOS firmware at 5.30pm. LOL! it said "6 hours remaining'
