Actually what resolution can eight do when their roaming partner naughty ? First they know you will have limited time to contact Eight, while overseas need to get stable wifi connection. Second by the time they respond, you might already be on your way back to SG
Instead of expecting eight to do anything that is likely not within their co trolls. Just prepare for the worst to get a local sim or other alternative eSIM plan to use overseas instead.

as u said, by then u contact eight u probably do not need it anymore.

always bring 2 handphone of different brands. Network issues is always due to wrong apn setting. if dont work just try sim on the other phone for correct apn setting

actually eight was a "lifesaver" when I was in Switzerland end Oct 2024, had issues with lodging and it provided free roaming calls while my other zym line don't back then. would have ran up a huge bill if not for it.
gotta give credit where credit is due

My eight plan still haven reach 1 month. Think of porting out withjn the first month. But after reading all the posts here, seem like Eight is making difficult to port out.
My plan lasted 17 days. I confirm there is no lock in unless u have very old plan that have 30 day lock in which no longer valid. I ported out at 17 days struggle with lagging website.
I also check with CS at Clementi to confirm there is no lock in.
Google hard shows very old plan has 30 days lock in .

Tested at the same spot in Bolehland at two different timings.

I guess there is still throttling of speed ((again at 5Mbps+_)

just could not confirm the trigger point. Probably after used up certain amount of roaming data per day.

same for me in Singapore, one minute get 97Mbps and the next down to few Mbps then repeat.. it just randomly. I can run speedtest at on different phone(same model) at same place and same time and all different speed.

yeah my guess is that the speed is being throttled, no matter in roaming countries or lion city.

Actually had this **** happened to me when I was in Germany last year, just that I thought was just a random thing

Anything longer than 2-3 days, I will get forbidden from the local operator there then it will work the day after.

Smae **** happened in Malaysia as well

I got to disable the auto select and keep trying while it says forbidden. Took me 3 tries the next day to successfully connect back

Luckily I was in a group and could borrow hotspot to purchase esim:confused:

unfortunately, the "lockout" became permanent.
try to manually change provider, none showed up as available (empty list).
at this point, dunno whether it is the phone imei kenna block over there, or is eight issue.

My wife did not use the 3GB China roaming data of the eight S$8 plan for her recent two trips in China (Guangdong and Fujian). Rather she used SingTel S$13 5G plan (26GB China data) for the roaming data needs.

That being said, I still found the free roaming voice useful. Occasionally WhatsApp Call and WeChat Call were not that clear, I just directly called the eight mobile number and that was much better.

Still got S$120 balance in eight thanks to the previous S$88 one for one top-up offer.

That is the main reason for me to keep eight Mobile. But then the new StarHub Prepaid Plans also got free roaming voice. Latest StarHub Prepaid plans even support roaming outgoing SMS.

I believe this is due to congestion of the StarHub 4G Core Network.

I only have eight 4G plan and the speed can vary quite a bit even when the 4G signal is good here in the Jurong West area (near to Jurong Point).

I can get pretty consistent 5G speed for StarHub Prepaid S 5G plan when the signal is good. On the other hand, if I force it to use 4G mode, the speed can also be quite different even when the signal is good.
