I find the 5G speed in SG is much better for my use case, 4G was good before 2026. It is significantly slower in 2026 or not moving at all in many occasions.

the free voice call is really why I still with Eight. It is really useful while oversea for making calls to call hotel etc. WhatsApp call is not possible. Even if calling friends better to use voice instead of WhatsApp, it just not so clear.

yes, can make roaming calls at roaming countries very useful, even in bolehland, totally no need a bolehland no to make calls to bolehland no.

and good thing is eight will NOT incur ADDITIONAL charge AT ALL NO MATTER how u use. totally peace of mind. :p

no. IDD calls meaning u call from lion city. NOT in roaming countries.

if u can make calls within roaming countries, it does not deduct anything, it is free.

No, it has separate quota for it
Refer https://www.eight.com.sg/critical-information-summary/ for your own plan
Refer the volte roaming

it is not stated in the dashboard. but anyway, 288 minutes is more than sufficient for anyone. so dun bother to check remaining quota also.

VoLTE Roaming: 288 incoming minutes, 288 outgoing minutes to home country (Singapore), 288 outgoing minutes to local country (the country that you roam) • Free local incoming mins and SMS • Free Caller ID

No point. 4G speed is good enough for whatever can do on a mobile phone.

5G speed on a mobile phone is just for speed test and self high at most. 🤪
Translation:
No point. a thousand is good enough for whatever can do with my life.

a billion dollar in Singapore is just for haolian test and self high at most. 🤪

Indeed eight 4G is pretty bad for local usage due to StarHub 4G network congestion based on my testing. My S$3 StarHub Prepaid S 5G legacy plan is much better for my local usage as a backup for the main Singtel S$15.28 line.

But free roaming voice is useful when on travel, but the new StarHub Prepaid plan is also catching up (even with 25 free outgoing SMS).

In the end I will still keep eight due to the S$88 one for one top-up offer (still got 15 months to go).

i doubt i will go back to eight unless i changed desk or company
eight sux btw

haha! I remembered you were a "fan" few months ago haha kidding

1-2 years ago ba

I used to rely on Starhub prepaid cards for trips because roaming was so expensive, but today I just use one main SIM with roaming data regionally or globally. It saves me the trouble of swapping out multiple cards.

seriously device buy with telcos nowadays are not attractive, unless they are offering device without contract but with discounts from the retail price.
Zero1's phone bundle could be a good reference
ie. Pay for RRP of phone but get phone + 4 mths plan

Wanna clarify on this… for this volte roaming, say when i’m overseas and wanna call a local number there or call back sg number, regardless a fixed line or mobile number, i just go my contacts and call as per usual? Any requirements on phone/hardware? I’m using the $8 one on my old iphone 11pro max. It’s a spare line that i would bring along during hols just for this overseas calls contingency… although i’ve never had to use it so far…
