using 4G senior plan in Batam. no issues at all. Smooth and fast.
only at Pollux Habibie Apartment is struggling haha. but outside lobby and other places no issue. Got wifi anyway in AirBNB Pollux Habibie apartment.
i also can confirm ferry all the way from Singapore to Batam no issue. ferry in middle of Sea also...... can use lol
But i still think Eight should counter Singtel Hi 5G plan for seniors by also putting a Eight 5G Senior plan

They are being squeeze too much with many users onboarded to them who are happy customer with good experience at their local area. the 10.80 plan for 5G will pull a lot of people already.using 4G senior plan in Batam. no issues at all. Smooth and fast.

Starhub seems to be filtering the different class of people with Starhub for serious people / Giga for students and coming out to work interns / Eight for those wants the best cheap offer ( whatever experience depends on where you are )
$198 think is the possible price you can get from any shops, the free 8 mths free plans is not given to this model. So it is simply a normal deal.

8 months free plan applies to certain more expensive phone models, A17 5G is not 1 of them, do check the website again.can get 8 months free plans, why a normal deal?

Eight appears to be selling the 4GB RAM variant. That'll be a miserable experience. I'd pay the ~S$90 extra for the 8GB RAM variant.
