"After 60 days, you will continue to receive SMS, however all unused wallet credit will be forfeited."

This is the confusing part, so after 60 days, you can still keep the number?

cos eight is not clear if after 60 days, will they terminate the number?

Or you try to topup $8 on the 100th day, the number will revive?
Not sure who writes the FAQ. Definitely he/she needs a ChatGPT.

wow! i sent email to Customer Support, eight <helpme@eight.com.sg> and they replied within an hour (y)

Hope our answers clarifies all your doubts 🎉
  1. If I am leaving Singapore permanently, what will happen to my eight mobile number and account? The account will be dormant after the 60 days grace period.
  2. Can I keep my number (without a Singapore NRIC or residential address)? As long as you keep renewing your plan, it is fine.
  3. Can I do a transfer of ownership? Eight do not support transfer of ownership at this time.
  4. Understand that credit in the wallet is non-refundable and exchangeable for cash, but is it transferable to another account? No.

New Functionality: For the most recent status of your port-in, please login to MyAccount https://account.eight.com.sg/

Please note: We have an exciting promotion for you – Buy $8 and Get $8 Free . You can top-up $8 in main wallet and we will credit additional $8 credits to you within 7 days 😉. This promotion is till 30th Sep https://www.eight.com.sg/termsofservice

Thanks for the email.

The account will be dormant after the 60 days grace period.

If I interpret correctly, the number will not be terminated, so I can just revive the $8 plan everytime I go overseas to enjoy roaming.

Meanwhile, I can use other telcos plan to use for local data.

Yes but if it is dormant for too long (say another 60 days after the initial 60 days grace period) they will terminate the line without warning eventually.

Data point: port-in from Zero1 to eight
Signed up for the 88 days $0 plan online on 21 Aug, collected the SIM at Bukit Batok shop 4 Sept at 7pm.
Lost Zero1 signal at 11pm last night, popped new SIM card in this morning at 8am and worked perfectly with outgoing calls and SMSes reflecting the ported number.

I was expecting the porting to take place only tonight as I collected and activated my SIM at 7pm, but was faster than I expected. Yet to try, but fingers crossed that the incoming SMS/OTP works!
When you apply, do you need to put place and date? And when collection, straight away activate?

No, just need to select if you want to self-collect or mail. Then they will email an activation code which will be valid for 14 business days.. just need to collect before then. Yes, they will activate it upon collection, using the temporary number and activation code.
