Didn't some users get 5G in Yishun before? Or wasn't it from Eight?

Anyway, ever since data roaming with Eight in JB, first time in over a decade I'm thinking of letting go of a couple of my Malaysia prepaid lines.

Does Eight have 5G with Maxis in JB? IIRC someone also mentioned that?

Think next trip I should slot my Eight SIM into a 5G-capable device...

Does Wi-Fi calling work for you nice people on Eight? I saw that it works for some people, but not for others. Phone specific?

It doesn't work on my Xiaomi phone. There is no option to even toggle on Wi-Fi calling.

But even if i enable WiFi calling on my phone, how do I know the phone is using WiFi calling when I make calls?

I’ve never been in any situation where I have to exercise all the different options when I make calls, so I don’t know how all these things work

That's why I thought there was a small chance that Eight will finally support 5G in all of SG, but sadly it isn't the case.

Genuine question: Why does Maxis support 5G in all of MY, but not Eight with 5G in SG? Are we getting the short end of the stick again?

you will see the wifi calling logo changed from volte logo from your notifications bar.

last time when i called banks, i dun usually put 1800 coz they still deduct outgoing call allowance, until somebody said it will not deduct.
lesson learnt

no leh. when I dial 1800. is not deducted from local call time.

but I recently called singpost 1605. it is not toll free

If you are on airplane mode with Wifi calling you can be sure that is not cellular

As an example, with Voxi (MVNO) in the UK, even their cheapest plan includes 5G. Are we getting cheated in SG by having to pay more for 5G when it should be standard?

Eight haven't paid them for us to use 5G there?

Even for Maxis, IIRC the postpaid users got 5G (way) before us prepaid ones...

When I called a 1800 number in SG from SG, it deducted from my local call time. Every single time, for multiple different calls to different 1800 numbers. This is for M1 Prepaid. I couldn't believe it.

You're right though, calling a 1800 number in SG from SG on Eight does not appear to deduct from local call time.

Why the inconsistency? What is IMDA doing? They should enforce standards and say 1800 numbers should be truly toll-free when calling an SG number from within SG, no matter which telco / MVNO you're using.

Find me an $8 (or similar) plan in SG with 5G. (Simba doesn't count.)

Genuine question: What's the cheapest non-Simba 5G plan in SG? I presume it would be from one of the MVNOs.

On my iPhone, it will show Starhub wifi on lock screen, upper left hand corner

Could be, but I was on one of their All-in-one plans with x number of minutes in 28 days. And yet it deducted from x.
