Yesterday applied to port over from M1.
M1 line no more signal after mid night.
This morning received sms that line ported over successfully.
Very fast!
Nice! Did you port-in via service center or posted the SIM card to your address?

Hi All, I recently port over to Eight and this is the first time I have been promoted for a software upgrade, STARHUB.SG.12.0.0.1(LT). Has anyone else received the same for their Android devices?

Ported a mobile line into 8 mobile on Nov 2024.
After inserted the new 8 mobile SIM card, the STARHUB.SG 12.0.0.1(LT) 12.0.0.140 pop up.
I accepted and installed the software on a Huawei Mate 20X.

But, when I tried 8 mobile SIM card with other set of Huawei Mate 20X and Huawei P30, nothing pop up and the EMUI indicated “Your software is up to date”.
The software version remained at MONE.SG 12.0.0.1(LT) 12.0.0.132 and MONE.SG 11.0.0.3 (LT) 12.0.0.138 respectively.

just a random guess.

was the affected Mate20 originally sold by starhub? and had starhub-specific customistation/software installed?

and were the unaffected Mate20 and P30 sold by m1? and had m1-specific customisation/software installed?

Didn't prompt to install any app after inserted the 8 SIM. Using OPPO Phone.
Is it only HW phone?

May I ask if there is a minimum period of subscription for 8? Let's say I ported in to eight, must I wait until end of the 1st month (or after 1st month?) then can port over to another service provider? Or can I port out in 3rd week or so?

Sianzzz damn pekchek. Still can't roam under maxis or U mobile in Malaysia for my mum.
IMHO.
Got enable data roam? 4Gor 5G phone?
I was in KL a few days back, the crowded places the connectivity is poor and have to switch from Maxis to U or vice verse. My Heya.SG in 4G at times, show E instead of 4G or 4G+

Turns out she has to go in and login to manually choose the plan to get then she could use... Now I know why.🤦‍♂️

You are right !
After careful inspection,
mobile phone from Starhub - STARHUB.SG 12.0.0.1(LT) 12.0.0.140
mobile phones from M1 - MONE.SG 12.0.0.1(LT) 12.0.0.132 and MONE.SG 11.0.0.3 (LT) 12.0.0.138

8 mobile SIM card or Starhub responsible to trigger the need to update software ?

ah, ok. lucky guess :ROFLMAO:

my guess is starhub. Phone probably had some starhub customised firmware already loaded in, and then detected an update when connected to starhub via eight.

reminiscing on my old telco phones:
- my first android phone was an old motorola which had a starhub boot up splash page, and hardcoded starhub home page in provided browser.
- a few years ago, bought a 2nd hand phone with m1 and some sg govt apps in firmware. factory reset the phone, and it insisted on installing those apps. Cured it by flashing LineageOS :ROFLMAO:

Actually those carrier custom firmware can be easily reset with generic ones.

I have done that before with Nokia Symbian based phones (need to find generic firmware online and flash it) and also Android (just check CSC code and change) for Singtel sets.
