Check their phone settings; make sure that it isn't set to connect to 5G as this can cause all sorts of unexpected connectivity issues. Change it to 4G and enable VoLTE.

Remember that Eight is a 4G-only network.
Thank u

Hi, has anyone successfully used the Eight with a mobile router in Taiwan?

I assumed it would be as simple as plugging it in, but the signal seems weak, or perhaps there’s a setting I overlooked.

For those who have managed to make it work, could you share how you did it? 🙏

Hi, I used Eight during my Kaohsiung, Tainan & Taipei trip in early Jan 2025. You only need to switch on "Auto Roaming" in your phone settings. Eight will run on Chunghwa Telecom's network in Taiwan.

Coverage, speed and stability were better than average. I didn't experience any network issues in Taiwan. I was even able to make WhatsApp call at the Beitou hot springs area in Taipei.

Hope this helps.

Chunghwa is the best telco imo. But I guess it is 4G+ only?

Just sharing:
I just came back from Taipei too. Zym using Taiwan Mobile (dageda) 5G, Simba using Chunghwa 4G+. Both no problem, but the 5G is definitely faster than the 4G+.

Coverage and stability of network are as important as speed while traveling.

My family member who was traveling together with me in Taiwan was using Zym. They didn't have any issues. But their Zym plan only includes 3GB roaming data for Taiwan.

Thank you for your detailed response. I tried using it with my mobile router, but before that, I inserted it into my phone, activated auto-roaming, and then transferred it to the mobile router.
However, it keeps loading endlessly, even though the network has been detected.

If Eight's auto roaming in Taiwan worked on your phone, maybe it's your mobile router's settings.

You have to enable data roaming on the mobile router. I lol-ed at activated auto roaming on phone and transferred to mobile router. You serious about that? LOL

Haven't you heard? We can now activate auto-roaming in our phone, and "transfer" it to any other phone in the world via WhatsApp or Telegram!

🤣🤣🤣
