Does anyone know: Eight have
  • Free Incoming Call (Globally) ???
  • Free Incoming SMS (Globally) ???
Technically is globally as long as it falls in their coverage under group A for incoming call if not mistaken. SMS is global as long as you have network (I've received OTP SMS in other continents I've been to other on top of Asia, even if the country is not in their international roaming group A)

No, but for roaming, they do have
- 288 Volte incoming Minutes,
- 288 Volte outgoing Mins to home country (Singapore),
- 288 Volte outgoing Mins to local country
(the country that you roam)

I got this info from emailing their customer service (who were d*** bloo** sarcastic)

SMS for roaming was not mentioned, sadly.

Zym Mobile offers 5G on their $10.10 plan only for the first 90 days, and only for number port-ins. After 90 days you'll be on 4G LTE. You have to switch to Zym's $15.10 plan (or higher) to keep 5G.

To my knowledge SIMBA currently offers the lowest priced 5G plans in Singapore: as low as $10 per 30 days for the general public, as low as $5 per 30 days for seniors.

Some of the 4G plans in Singapore may roam onto 5G networks when outside Singapore, where available.
Yup initially i signed up the 4G plan with free 3mths 5G.
After that they free upgrade for me to Perm 5G, at the same lower plan. 4G rate

Eight data roaming quite usable in Vietnam HCM, not as good as Simba but 90% stable, 10% of the time will have network but can't load anything. 4G only no 5G

SMS OTP a bit wonky, sometimes instant sometimes a few hours later for eight. Yes only vinaphone auto connect, at least in HCM

That makes sense since VinaPhone is Eight Mobile’s only roaming partner in Vietnam.

VinaPhone is a data-only 4G LTE roaming partner for Eight Telecom. There’s no VoLTE support when roaming on VinaPhone. Thus any SMS text messages you receive would have to be delivered over VinaPhone’s 3G network. (2G was shut down in Vietnam last year.) You might get better results if you temporarily disable 4G and 5G on your phone (if that setting is available) when you want to receive a SMS text message. However, data performance is likely to be pretty poor on 3G. Also, I don’t think VinaPhone has any low band 3G service. I believe it’s all up in 2100 MHz. This higher band won’t penetrate buildings as well as lower bands do. Stay near a window or outside, basically.

And all that’s just to get a signal so your SMS text message has a good network path to your phone. There could still be some other message delivery issue since a lot of other things have to go right.

Quick question, can't find in eight's FAQ.

Does eight has any talktime limit before the line gets cut off?

For GOMO and heya, there's a one hour call duration before the phone line gets cut off. "As a fraud control measure, each incoming and outgoing call will be cut off automatically at 1 hour call duration."

I would assume the above is a Singtel only "feature", for eight, we can use our talk time until our plan's limit is reached right?
