Not sure how their strategy fits with their overall organisation
First / business class - Starhub
Premium econ - Giga
Econ - Eight

On a serious note, separation of their services for the MVNO is quite clear what.
GIGA offers 5G
EIGHT offers only 4G.

Until eight starts offering 5G, GIGA is safe. But of course this is dependent on which MVNO their management wants to keep in the long run.

HAHA...HAHAHAHAHAH...HAHAHAHAHHAHA

Been experiencing total loss of connection this week at many areas in Singapore (emergency calls only). Some are the usual mrt stops, no problem, but they go on for whole sections of the train ride (it picks back up very quickly at certain stops so it doesn't feel like the phone is slow). Anybody got same issue?

Also my phone is a Samsung note 9... I know it's time to change it but the current timing not convenient and if I'm just going to have the same problem on eight when I change phone, I'm gonna be really displeased 💀

Update: I ended up buying a new phone. Before the new phone came, I have been experiencing a total normalcy of connection again >.> Thanks @BBCWatcher, I guess that was the final push I needed. eight on the new phone is still very slow though, so it wasn't my old phone lol. (But glad to have upgraded anyway, I was having issues copy/pasting my photos into a hard drive, can only paste 3-5 photos at a time.)

actually is there a big difference between 5G & 4G ?
is it more importance for those play games on their mobile?

The only forgettable experience i had with 5G is with Simba. speed was terrible in my usage area.

It is like when they phase out 3g and 4g is the only option...

Fiber broadband 300/500mbps is considered as old plan with current offer > 5GB plan at the $29+, Why use only 4G if 5G NSA is available. Cheap is good for some not for all ..

My personal 2 cent thoughts...

eight is subsidiary of starhub. Not sure how their strategy fits with their overall organisation, they already got another mvno, giga.
https://ir.starhub.com/newsroom/20250221_073436_CC3_HCHE1TYJIK9QEGGG.1.PDF

Just go to whichever offers the best deal and service.
They doing a Singtel strategy :s13:

First / business class - Starhub vs. Singtel
Premium econ - Giga vs. Gomo
Econ - Eight vs. Heya

Singtel has another differentiation for 5G between their own brands and MVNO, with the 5G+ SA network exclusive to their own brands.

why are they doing that? this is like splitting different plans to different mnvos

They happy can liao.

If it's a strategy that works for them, then this business strategy works.

For us the consumers, variety of price point is good though it's merely an illusion of choice to certain extent

Simply put - fast good, fast best

On a serious note, personally yes.
Experienced 5G with giga and now purely 4g with eight, the usability is huge in terms of just surfing net and social media.

But If i were to compare my old vivifi 4g and eight 4g, no difference for me. Equally shitty in tunnels

I agree.

However, market segmentation is still a thing and it is not like 4g and 5g plans are the same In general.

Outlier like zym with their "promotion" and Simba are the better one that offer cost effective 5g which is a positive thing.

Till now still tempted go zym, but not going risk with shitty connection in a building that has starhub in its name

So in summary.......Eight works great but my usage applications are screwing up.
My main mobile is Samsung s23 and I tested using iPhone 13 pro max to verify Eight network remains the issues in few selected areas.

But why M1 and Starhub direct telco works perfect in scenario where Eight failed? Many scenario i request tether sharing and I could immediately connect to my game and applications with no issues?

I don't have a VPN account though so can't do the technical troubleshooting.

On usability, can't be M1/starhub (direct telco not muvo) works flawlessly but my Eight choked.
I think MNO and MVNO still has their differences
