Serious question, not trolling.

Those who say they want 5G, what do you actually want it for? What specific use case(s) do you have that 5G can provide which 4G cannot?

With 5G, if 4G connection not good, can hope (or wonder) if 5G would be better.

Without 5G, if connection not good, don't need to think much but port out already.

When 4G wasn't good, I'd switch to my Simba line while hoping 5G got to Eight someday.

But now... Maybe can consider cutting costs already, since no more hope.

The new annual plans are crap. Just stick to the monthly plans or port out if not happy. 🤣
Those plans are plain jokes! 🤡🤡🤡

Some even stucked in the "contract" by topping up account till Christmas 2026 liao. That is the worst contract that you can leave but cannot bear to leave.
But those people although voluntarily "stuck" were taking advantage of the good deals at that time. If they maximize their savings using Shopee voucher and coins also, it's like only paying maybe $3-6/mth on the $8 plan. Of course many things in life is a risk, if they start to experience network problems then bo bian sit one corner and cry, otherwise seems like a winning deal at this point.

I personally missed the $28 deal, otherwise I would have topped up to probably mid next year haha. This new one year upfront plan quite laughable, especially the $8 one, doesn't make sense to pay full cost upfront for 1 year if there's no discount lol. If this is their new type of promo then I really regret missing out on the $28 deal.

We can always port to zym for 6 months free subscription then port back again if got new promo. Not end of the world mah. I've been paying less than $4 since porting over from Vivifi so already reaped all the benefits.

It's not end of the world, of course.

288GB SG-MY (Double Eight Plan)

$8 /30 days
$96 /1-Year Plan
So if you pay $96 up front (instead of $8 per increment) you get 5 whole days of additional service (365 instead of 360 days)?🤔

....Well, I guess you could do that.🤣

The most important part for me now is the n1 band (2100mhz) that 5G is on.

Speed is not the fastest (not the n78 3500mhz band) but n1 is another band for reception where instances of places using 4G LTE B3,7,38 of Starhub doesn't give any signal or coverage. I see it as giving me another band to latch on. More options the better.

The latest spectrum for 5g is n28 (700mhz APT) that is meant for further indoor penetration signal. Waiting for them to farm. Singtel started end Oct 2024 with this, and this past June the payment from starhub seems to be through to IMDA.

I'm not into those speedtest nutcases that gives me a feel good factor seeing the speed going past 1000mbps and flexing it on the net. I just want data to flow everywhere, basically load a webpage or send a message successfully, wherever I go.
