Is there any way that I can receive the otp by email? Loaded eSIM in my iPad bt unable to retrieve otp to access to my account

you can only have email otp only when you sign up their data only plan.
after the first login you can enable passkey and throw away otp.

Does eight allow user new (on SingTel prepaid) to port to eight postpaid directly via online sign-up and choose eSIM?

Yes. Just bear in mind that prepaid to postpaid is a one-way trip. You can’t go back to prepaid and keep the same number. SIMBA offers similar plans on a prepaid basis if you want to keep the line as prepaid.

Not sure if anyone experienced this, but when doing Google search on mobile browser using Eight, the Google reCAPTCHA keeps appearing almost every other time.
But I have no such issues when I switched my mobile data to Simba or Singtel line.

That's probably a byproduct of Google deciding (for whatever reasons) that a particular IP address, or address range, requires more reCAPTCHAs at least for a period of time. It could happen to any shared IP addresses, or address ranges. Next week you could see the same thing on another carrier's line.

Unfortunately Web sites discriminate between inbound traffic all the time, and for myriad reasons. You can often work around these "cat and mouse" problems by using a VPN.

I think it's a starhub issue, since 8 mobile is using starhub infra. I get it too on starhub line sometimes as well.

How is 8 mobile in Batam, JB, Penang and Ipoh? Have anyone tried?

In sg once in crowded place like restaurants and peak hour train, it loses priority and drop to below 10mbps. But want priority pay for singtel better. 8 is prob better line for overseas use than local.

I get about 40 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload in JB.

i didn't do speed tests, but last month, eight and simba were good in Ipoh, KL/PJ, Melaka and JB.

i manually chose CelcomDigi, or Maxxis. both of these were good where i was.
Maxxis also gave 5G roaming.
Celcom somehow was stuck on 3G (data on Edge)

have not recently been to Batam and Penang, so can't help there.

There is an auto renewal functiion in the app.

I am currently on $8, if I select $11.80 will it auto renew the next cycle or is it immediate.

TIA

How do I upgrade my plan?

Upgrading is instant!
  • Log in to your eight account > Click on Recharge > Select your plan upgrade
  • Or visit any eight retailer
Once the upgrade is activated, your current plan will be immediately terminated and replaced with the new one.
Please note that plan upgrades are billed in full and we are unable to reverse transactions for terminated or stacked plans, nor can we reinstate previously held plans.

Upgrade plan, renew immediately.
Downgrade plan, wait till end of current cycle
tough luck. Then i have to wait till current plan expire.

Then recharge the next day in order not lose any days of the current plan.

They should allow us to choose.

Haiz add on their roaming data also will expire together when the plan end. if plan next day expire then you get to use 1 day only.

They sure have some very not client friendly mechanics.

If you don't like that, try Simba :
You can only upgrade from day 1-25 day of billing cycle. Day 26-30 you will need to wait for next billing cycle to upgrade.
If you wait till plan expire, you can't buy a different new plan like on eight, you can only recharge for the earlier expired plan before you can change plan (so paying twice), and this is backdated to the original expiry date.

I would much rather than eight's arrangement than Simba's.

I went to Penang with my family last week.. No problem using CelcomDigi for Internet in Georgetown.. Auto connect to U-Mobile in their airport.. (Forget to mention all 4G roaming).. But nvr do any speedtest..

For Eight, are there any charges for termination within 30 days of activation? (I understand Simba charges $30).
