Got the $14.80 5G to play in my new phone and yes, instant connection to Maxis at 2nd Link, KSAB.

Still feel this price is a bit too steep in today's market, though.
so far before having 5G plan, when in MY, it is auto connected to a 5G network if phone is enabled.

It wasn't as smooth for me over at JB Sentral side before, so I normally turned it off.

hello boys. Just hopped onto eight on their 5G 14.80 plan. Realise I could just use the extra Int roaming bundle for my upcoming overseas trip. Can I up the plan to $18 dollar one on 2nd day into the service?
Emailed them since 8am no reply.

You can upgrade your plan anytime and it will be effective that day. But you won't receive any money back for the unused portion. For example you paid 14.80 yesterday and today you up the plan to 18. The 18 plan starts today but the 14.80 you paid yesterday, is gone. No refund. I usually up my plan just before I depart for the trip. To minimize my 'losses'. Or time it by upgrading the plan a few days before renewal.

You are probably better off upgrading during the trip if and when you actually run low/out on roaming data.
That way you maximize the current plan to prevent wastage, and if you stay within your quota, no further action needed.

Oh man thanks for the explanation mate! I was almost wishing I could top up $3.20 to get to the $18 plan. My mistake hahah. Cheers

Nope. Starts immediately. See post #14190, just 2 post above your question.
If you want an upgrade to start after current plan, upgrade after the current plan expire, or just before it expires.

On Eight website, there are two part,
- choose a plan and confirm payment
- click on "recharge"

i am not sure whats the diff?

Don't even know if that link would actually work. Sekali error message.

If sign up eight (eSIM) before 6pm today (Friday) by porting in old no, will the porting be starting today at 11pm and complete by 4am on Saturday? Or it will need to wait till Monday 4am then complete?

eight FAQ says

if upgrading plan, plan starts immediately
if downgrading plan, plan starts after expiry.

eight com sg / faq-renew-recharge-and-billing

so confusing, anyone has tried before if same plan before the old one expires if buy the same plan again now, will it start immediately?

need someone who has tried before to confirm.

it will be stacked (starts after your current one expires) or turned into wallet credits.

it has been answered a few times

Ic. so if i want the plan to refresh immediately before expires, only solution is to 'upgrade' to any 'higher plan' as per the eight faq rite?

This one depends on the queue today. If you strongly want to have the porting tonight, suggest you sign up as early as possible to have a position nearer the front of the queue. BTW, Saturday may port also, but I am not sure if that applies to eight.
