Haha, I am the few here who have zero interests in Singtel MVNOs even with the good promotion. :ROFLMAO:

Rather I am testing Eight and M1 Maxx, while keeping my main SingTel SIM Only plan at S$15.28 per month.

I am using a very low end Poco C75 4G only phone bought in June 2025 at S$112 for this testing, so my expectation is pretty low.

Eight 4G managed to " beat" my expectation with the "easy" above the ground MRT trip from Jurong East to Boon Lay, from 4:02 pm to 4:16 pm on this Saturday afternoon.

Speed at Jurong East and Boon Lay are pretty good at above 10 Mbps. Then it managed to go below 1 Mbps (0.42 Mbps download , 0.14 Mbps upload) around Chinese Garden MRT. Then go up a bit but still below 2 Mbps (1.62 Mbps download, 0.06 Mbps upload) around Lakeside MRT.

So I am at home and change the phone to a better Poco X6 Pro 12GB/512GB version.

Eight 4G LTE speed is not impressive, usable though if just for browsing. YouTube seems to be okay as well. YouTube 1080p is supposed to require about 10 Mbps but it seems to me it may work at about 8 Mbps.

I bought a TP-Link 4G router MB235-4G from TP-Link Singapore official Shoppe store at S$56.55 (usual price at S$66). I was planning to test it with Eight 4G. Now I give up and I have not opened the TP-Link 4G router yet.

Based on the testing of Eight 4G and Singtel 4G, I have significantly lower my expectations of 4G.

Previous expectations of 4G
100 Mbps excellent
50 Mbps, very good
10 Mbps, good
5 Mbps, not so good, still acceptable
Below 5Mbps, bad

Current expectations for 4G
50 Mbps excellent
10 Mbps, very good
2 Mbps, good
1 Mbps, still acceptable, lag a bit, can load already okay
0.2 Mbps, ah, that is a problem ...
No signal, ah, that is bad

Really costly to enroll into the Singtel Circles package... 😦

I don't see the option in the eight app though

Somehow I remember that I saw the option, but later I enabled the option as I may keep Eight for quite some time unless it fails my roaming test during the upcoming short trip to China. In that case, it may be ported out.

Now I cannot find the option to disable auto-recharge in the Eight app. Looks like a one way ticket to me.

Edit: just find the option again.

Main menu (top left) -- Billing -- Billing Info. You can enable/disable Auto Recharge here.
