Taking Double Eight plan as an example, can use Shopee coins to offset up to $2.46, bringing the total cost to $5.74 for $8 topup to wallet balance or renew of plan.
You could do that, but you can use Shopee coins for any purchase. Including for purchases that aren't priced at a premium on Shopee. In other words, spending Shopee coins in this way isn't a great idea unless they're expiring soon and you've run out of other purchases you'd ordinarily make.

Yeah sure one can choose to spend Shopee coins on other purchases but if this is a mandatory purchase and if there are sufficient coins to spare, I personally see it as a great way to reduce the total cost to below $8 - you still end up saving some tho not a lot, even with the extra 20 cents ($8.20 for a $8 plan), it's still acceptable to me.

Unless there are other ways to reduce the monthly premium that I'm unaware of (taking CDC vouchers at certain retailers and topup bonus promos aside).

Let's try this another way.

Let's suppose you purchase laundry detergent every month, and Shopee's price on laundry detergent is the same as Fairprice's (the best price you can find otherwise). And you have $4.50 worth of Shopee coins. Option #1: You could use your Shopee coins to buy laundry detergent on Shopee — and buy your Eight wallet top up directly from Eight. Option #2: You could use your Shopee coins to buy an Eight wallet top up on Shopee — and buy your laundry detergent either from Shopee or Fairprice. Choosing Option #2 means you're 20 cents poorer. Every month.

The price still matters, usually. Higher prices are higher prices. I don't think it's a good idea to be even 20 cents poorer, but it's up to you.

I get your point. Just sharing an available option that works for me personally. YMMV, this option may or may not work for someone else - if one ran out of CDC vouchers and buying groceries off Shopee allows more value for money compared to the eight top up then yeah sure go ahead.

So the issue was EIGHT say you used too much data?

What is your current plan and your billing cycle?

And do you know you can actually check the usage on EIGHT portal?

You can check your APP usage and analyses accordingly on the data usage.. Else contact Eight CSO asked for breakdown ..

Usually the usage of the person to be blame as unconsciously using roaming data not knowing .. too many cases on news

Yes there's an option named Usage Details on the app. Shows calls, messages and data.

Did you forget to download an offline map (or maps) in Google Maps over Wi-Fi before you set off? Also, the Gemini mobile app reportedly often gobbles data. You can restrict background data for apps that use a lot, and that'll help tame them. Or use the Web version (gemini.google.com). Or don't use it at all.

Also, when you're roaming try turning on "Low Data Mode" (iOS) or "Data Saver" (Android). There's much more you can do, but that's a start.

And in all seriousness, you're in one of the world's most beautiful countries. Power off your phone and enjoy it. At least for several hours.

Anyone has experience with attempting to get eight to re-attempt a number port in after a port-in failure due to incorrect details provided during signup? The response from which email contact, helpme or portin, is faster?

If intl roaming is maxed - 18gb I am still ok. How can local data hit few hundred gb? In normal mths when I was with SH I barely hit 10gb per mth.
I didn't go apac in Feb but apac data usage maxed out too -_-
And even my idd are at limit even though I didn't make any idd calls at all. Basically every category of usage is maxed/almost maxed - even local outgoing calls ... When I doubt I made even more than 15mins in five days.

Emailed them - 5-7days turnaround. And asked me funny question like mobile device model.... Dang I just paid 1full yr of the $18 plan...

Yeah I open the app and was shocked to see the numbers. Calls 886mins out of 888mins. Usage details barely add up to 3mins. So I dunno where the idd calls come from. And I believe they might count the smses I received in jp, tho most are from them....

Anyway I now dunno if the xxx of xxx is what's left but the title show "current month usage" ... So I currently presuming it's what I used? If it's what left then ok.... Sorry for the trouble caused hahaha.
Yes, it’s what’s left (remaining). Eight should probably fix their captions.

I always disabled Google play updates and cloud backups on my family and my phones whenever going overseas
