That's great!

IMO their CSOs sitting in office seem to be different ones from those days. Either no reply or lost in their own thoughts.

Good that their service centre staff are still efficient.

their staffs at clementi service centre are friendly i must say. not an issue. just that one experienced one plus one junior at the service centre, if too many visitors, the waiting time will get long.

Along with the calls and messages, all the usage are correct

Did you accidentally connect to your wifi or something?

thanks for replying. no ive been using 4g all the way
Maybe just reach out to EIGHT via email if you are worried about the ability to not know the data consumption rate.

While you wait for their reply, maybe use the phone data usage tracking as a gauge first but that should also be quite accurate

EDIT - Try sending an SMS to your mom or calling her, then monitor the SMS / call usage see if it reflect. Then throw it back to EIGHT if this also cannot be tracked

Might have to port out now from Eight. Too bad I still have wallet balance.

My overseas bank now requires me to send international SMS, and my Eight line cannot send international SMS.

What other telco at $10 or less supports international SMS and has free data roaming as well? I shifted to Eight last year mainly because of generous free roaming data.

Thank you in advance.

I believe no such plan exists at the price you want to pay.

Which overseas country are you referring to here?

One option but much more expensive is probably StarHub 5G Unlimited+ Core plan at S$38 per month.

For now eight does not allow outgoing SMS to foreign numbers.

Starhub is the only one to offer such SMSs for free, on their 5G Unlimited+ Plans ($38 & above).

On the rest it costs around $0.10 - $0.20 per SMS. Singtel has a Global SMS add on pack for $3 per month that allows you to send 50 SMSs.

Your choice is to sign up for a postpaid plan with the 3 MNOs (Singtel, Starhub, M1), MyRepublic or the Singtel MVNOs that support global SMS.

For your use case, SIMBA may be most appropriate, as they offer a $10 plan, but SMSs cannot be sent while roaming, they can only be sent while in SG.

If you require sending international SMSs while roaming, you will need to subscribe to the remaining options.

Singtel, Starhub, M1 and SIMBA.

Good info.

On the MVNO side, SingTel Gomo seems to have IDD and Global SMS add-on at S$5.

Global SMS can be used for all destinations worldwide and will be charged at S$0.15 per SMS from existing IDD credit.

In my experience only China, India and some malaysian banks require outgoing SMS to access your account.

For China and those malaysian banks, it is more cost effective to buy a prepaid SIM card in CN/MY and to bind that number to your bank. (China mobile has a ¥8 ~ $1.52 per month plan)

For India banks, you have little choice as their prepaid sims are hard to get without a local ID and roaming charges are expensive.

Carriers that offer WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) often support outgoing SMSes wherever you are — if you're connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi. That's another potential option, although it too will vary by carrier.
