Means what? Safe to continue driving to workshop or better tow?

U need an OBD scanner to obtain the specific error code from your vehicle. Check engine light can be from a lot of issues - best way is ask ur workshop to diagnose and fix the underlying issue

In general, any amber light means ok to drive to workshop. Red means better tow

Have driven about 20 km already since light came on. Checked engine oil and water both looks ok. Can only wait till tomorrow then ask workshop for advice I think.

Not sure if all workshop will have the obd to diagnose and get the error code. Or must go back to AD?

They don't have, they can also borrow from other workshop in their area who have it.

oxygen/lambda sensor is not critical part. but info relayed to the ecu will be faulty and this get damage cats and spark plugs long term. i've lived with a faulty front oxygen sensor for a few years.

Exhaust sensor faulty. About ~$200 to replace. :(

Mechanic said if don't replace, fuel consumption will be higher. No.choice just have to do it.

it's the O2 sensor, it detects abnomalities could be dirtied sensor just some cleaning will do, but then mechanics whom wanna earn money will always use the scare tactic knowing your fear of breakdown halfway. In this case this will not cause your vehicle to lose control or get into an accident, fuel consumption higher jiu higher lor, I lived with it for a good 2yrs till scrap

hey just asking if your CEL on for few years but the workshop never reset?
my car have this CEL problems for a few months and from gear 3-4 it loses power.
Its Volks Golf and i got quoted 4.8k for engine overhaul. But as long as i dont drive and accelerate too fast, its still okay but is it safe?

I understand there is usually a markup on the parts but is 50% normal? I saw an invoice at the mechanic's desk for the sensor for $120 but I was charged $180:eek: labour was another $80!!!!

I am a regular customer:(
