Which engine oil is recommended? im driving nissan latio, currently still using OWS 5W30 and due for maintenance soon.

I heard redline and amsoil engine oil is quite good. Can anyone share about its pros and con of these 2 oils?

Amsoil is good confirm...... But kana monopoly in SG now..... sucks....

Redline is also quite goodfor performance but from what I have read, protection is not that good. You get higher wear.

OWS....sorry but I wouldn't recommend it.

Motul is very good but super expensive.

Mobil..... Sibeh expensive not worth unless there is promotion.

Cheap and decent, Schaffer......

The turtle oil (the bottle with the turtle on it). Cheap and ok but don't last.

I'd joined an MO for Amsoil about 2 years ago, bought both the cheaper standard 5W30 and the SSO. I found that with 5W30 my engine ran smoother and got better mileage. So much for Signature. But the lobang for Amsoil ended real quick :(

Was using Redline 5W30 after that, mainly from ahbao's MOs. But the last few servicings I'd been on Giant's Mobil1. FC suffers a bit on Mobil1, but engine runs a lot smoother than when on Redline.

There is this Castrol Edge with Syntec. The 0W30 one will do. $16.50 per quart. Quite value for money.

Some car forums discussions a few years back concluded that the old SLX formulation was better than the current Edge.

Does your reply apply to the Castrol Edge with Syntec or SPT suffix?

The ones typically sold in Singapore are the Castrol Edge variant.

The more expensive the better, coz its the perceived premium and value you get from an established brand like motul.

Castrol Edge works for me. Look out for promotion at NTUC occasionally...goes for around $65 if I don't remember wrongly.

I heard about this brand too. I was told this brand receive bad review..

Shell ultra helix recommended? Mobile 1 gold?

Sorry I'm quite noob in this area.

Honestly, unless you redline your engine all the time, as long as you change engine oil regularly (according to the manufacturer's recommended interval) most engine oil does its job well. :)
