Amused at the amount of misinformation.

Anyway, EV or ICE, each got their own supporters but pure ICE going to be phased out right?

should be comparing EV vs Hybrid

Based on paper specs alone, hybrid cars only lose out by a few cents/km compared to EVs. Ironically, the ICE will become slightly more efficient over time while the EV will lose range and efficiency over time.

CriteriaElectric Vehicles (EVs)Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Cars
Environmental ImpactZero tailpipe emissions; however, emissions may come from power generation (if from fossil fuels)Emit greenhouse gases and pollutants directly from the exhaust
Operating CostsLower maintenance (no engine oil changes, requires other fluid changes, may need battery replacement for some brands)Maintenance involves engine oil changes, fluid replacements
Energy EfficiencyMore efficient, converts more energy into driving powerLess efficient, more energy lost as heat during combustion
NoiseQuiet operation, reduces noise pollution but might cause headaches for some people who are used to ICE carsLouder, may be noise or may be music for some
Charging InfrastructureLimited charging stations, depending on public facilities for non-landed homeownersWidely available fueling stations
Charging/Refueling TimeLong charging times (especially at home or slower stations)Quick refueling (few minutes)
Driving RangeLimited range (though improving)Longer range on a full tank
Battery DegradationBattery capacity may degrade over time, reducing rangeNo battery degradation issues
Model VarietyFewer models, though expanding, mostly from China. Traditional car manufacturers are withdrawing from EVsWide variety of models across different categories and prices
Range AnxietyPotential concern about running out of chargeNo concerns about running out of fuel
Fossil Fuel DependenceNo reliance on fossil fuels for the vehicle itself, but may rely on fossil fuels for electricity generationDependent on oil, subject to price fluctuations
PerformanceFast in a straight line but power reduction as the battery charges drop or with battery degradation; weight is noticeable on bendsBoost threshold is noticeable and unable to have instant torque; no power reduction with lower fuel; lighter, better handling on bends; cars can be tuned for performance and can be as fast or faster than EVs in some cases
PriceSome brands are priced competitively to get market share, can be cheaper than ICE car. Insurance and road tax are generally more expensive than ICETraditional car brands are generally more expensive because the brands are already established in Singapore. Insurance and road tax are generally less expensive.

My point is ADs will push high cost warranty responsibilities to users and u will be the one who kana end of the day. But since u so confident of CATL and BYD, go get them lo. U fret not mah.. got warranty. U almost like a paid spokesperson liao..
I definitely have no issue with CATL and BYD batteries, since even EVs manufactured by Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen etc are using them and these companies only use these CATL and BYD batteries in their premium car models (while using cheaper batteries in their low end models - the Mercedes car that kaboomed are using one of these cheap electric batteries).

I have seen news MG is providing semi solid state battery. should we wait for this technology to be available rather than jumping in to old tech.

Already heard customers complaining about BYD after-sales service. Gonna earn back the money somehow.

I read that the manufacturing of the car batteries are actually very polluting. Hence the non-fossil-fuel usage of the car may not fully negate the pollution and damage to the environment during the rare earth mineral extraction and manufacturing of the car batteries.

haha CO2 emissions easier to measure and quantify so they don't care. I doubt anyone has a accurate LCC of a EV from mining to end of life but it is a fact that EVs are more complex and for all these small electronic components, they require a decent amount of effort.

So for people who don't drive a lot, they are actually contributing more to environmental damage than if they were to buy a 2nd-hand car or ICE car.

The ICE lobby is just nitpicking. For obvious reasons. Their cheese is being moved and they are not transiting fast enough.

The weakest link in EV is the Lithium-Ion battery. Remember Lithium-Ion battery used for all electronics (mobile phone, laptop, watch, IoT devices), not just EV. Is it sustainable? Is it affordable? Major components are lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, graphite. All have concerns. Most people are short-sighted and selfish. It works today. It's affordable today. Who cares about tomorrow? If in future because of scarcity of raw materials, EV battery costs 500K, only rich can afford it. Do you care now or happy happy with your EV today can oreadi? Same for mobile phones, laptops, when the battery costs 50K, who can afford? Also create geopolitical tensions among countries who have the raw materials (cobalt-Congo, graphite-China) and the countries who need to buy these raw materials from them. Remember what happened to petroleum? OPEC realised they are a cartel and jacked prices up. That was the end of the cheap petrol era. Waiting to see when China, Congo jack up prices and hit the Western world with sky high prices. You want affordable (not cheap) battery, better friend friend China, etc.

lets wait abit bah.
the notion of Moving away from Fossil Fuel is not going away

Just hope Sodium Ion batteries development and research can quickly comes to speed as a replacement
instead of the dependency on Lithium,

Those who still asking EV or ICE car hugh probability won’t be driving any new cars :s22: Just look at actual sale of new cars each new quarter…

Chinese observer is an anti Chinese site so I'm not sure how much weight to put on their 'reporting'
