SP to me, is protect from scratches than from drop. Casing is more for drop protection.

yep this should be the right mindset. putting a glass over a glass doesn't ensure the bottom glass won't crack, however it definitely is useful to protect it from scratches, especially from grains of sand-like particles.

this time round with X i feel like going with just skin and AC+.

Apple should charge more for those that return.

Actually is quite normal in the USA, you see Erica the YouTuber (she bought and reviewed smartphones), the display not to her likening or not calibrated nicely, she always do a return or exchange.

Here in sg, once we step out of the shop, doing any return or 1 to 1 exchange is most impossible (non Apple brand smartphones), usually is ask to go service center and do repair.

Oh, I see. Well, I think Apple as of late has been doing quite well in protecting the screen from scratch.

TG to me is a must. For me, it's not about protection the screen when you drop the phone and prevent it from cracking. It's more for protecting against micro abrasion from things like keys and small particles.

A lot of people said it won't, but there are so many iphones that i have seen, under a strong lighting, you can actually see micro abrasion on the display. And these are phones without any screen protector or TG installed.
Sorry, but what is TG?

Tempered glass.
I agree with the micro-scratches. But I can't be bothered since I can't see them anyway unless under super strong lighting. The micro-scratches will be on the TG anyhow.

But I seem ppl order 8 ip8 and return to  without any penalty.

they returned or they cancelled?

from what i understand, returning the phone be it sealed or unsealed will carry penalty one leh..

Apple usually honours what they say on website, and i don't think there is any way to ask for personal grace when it comes to this?

For the X, I recommend not using a screen protector as it really spoils the look for the phone. Most phone manufacturers including Apple do cover glass lamination to give ‘pixel just under the surface of the glass look’. Adding another thick glass defeats this effect. Thou I do recognise the concerns about micro abrasions but it isn’t visible unless you really try to look for it with a strong light.

One point to take note is the X uses a lot of ‘from the edge gestures’ as shortcuts. Glass screen protectors and certain cases may interfere with it.

Should be ok for the edge to edge gestures. Coming from bb10 which uses swiping gestures from the edge and with the tgsp, it was ok one

From the well known leaker twitter. Seem like silver and space grey box front iPhone X wallpaper have different wallpaper instead of black box for space grey.

both model come with white box except the front wallpaper.

Isn't Corning Gorilla Glass popularised by this feature in the first place?

Eh. This one is up to you. I feel that screen protector, especially the tempered glass one, is just a marketing gimmick. Imagine your drop it, the tempered glass doesn't get smashed, the energy is being transferred to the actual screen itself and crack it.

I read an article of a screen engineer explaining why he will go naked instead of using a screen protector.
Not true. From my first hand experience, TG SPs applied on both my Samsung tablet and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 saved those devices' main glass underneath by being the sacrificial layer which absorbs the shock from drop. TGs cracked but never phones' glasses. Experienced it many times...
