For Singaporeans who wish to obtain long term stay in Thailand, there's a few visas available for us.

Mainly Tourist visa , education visa , work visa , spouse visa or if u are 50 years and above , retirement visa.

Accommodation in Bangkok is quite affordable and plentiful. I personally prefer to be staying in the city so it's convenient for me to go anywhere.

Sawatdee kaa, I'm Pegasus..not a guy (bro) 555. Planning to move to Bangkok soon (I hope). Most likely, will do the fly-in-n-out method with max 30 days' stay, even though I have a condo in centre Bangkok. I have been learning Thai thru Skype with a Thai teacher, so I know the basics. I do plan to bring up my Thai language proficiency to cover writing. So this means either getting a private teacher or going to a language school in Bkk.

Tourist visa itself is 3months, whereas education/spouse/work/retirement generally are valid for a year and renewable after each year. As long as u fulfil the requirements.

For rental, most Thais who come here to stay/work in Bangkok would be living in apartments or condos. Condos would be the type with guards/swimming pools as well as other facilities. Apartments are just normal buildings without the facilities. A decent 1 bedroom condo ard 33sq.m would be rented around 12-14k baht ( $500-$600 ) monthly.

Unless u are very certain that u will be staying/living in Bangkok , then perhaps u would consider buying condos here. There are many options besides living in Bangkok as some would prefer to stay in other provinces like Chiangmai or essan provinces which would be cheaper in those cases.
