I am planning to CNX during december cold season.

my 2nd time there..

will be driving inside cnx to :

1 - Doi Inthanon (day Trip)
2 - The giant cafe outside CNX (day trip)
3 - Mon Jam (day trip)

night time
relax @

1 - warm up cafe
2 - maldives
3 - Tha Wan Deng
4 - Iberry
5 - goodview bar

will be staying at niman area.
doi suthep been once already.

for you guys going doi suthep , you can go buping palace and doi pui
because is all link, recommended for 1st timer to do this in a day trip.

Practically everyone carries a smartphone nowadays. For tourists coming for a few days trip, u can take a snapshot of your bio data page of your SG passport as well as your arrival stamp from immigration when u entered. For Long term residents, u can take a snapshot of the visa page with the current visa u are holding as well as your bio data. That would suffice when u encounter road blocks when u are in Bangkok. That's direct from the police chief itself.

Anyway I just encountered road block a few hours ago on my way back from g club. My Friend and I was inside the taxi and was stopped and checked. As mentioned, I showed them my passport biodata page as well as visa/arrival stamp upon request through my smartphone. Luckily although I recently changed phone, I was careful to transfer 3 main photos mainly biodata/visa/arrival stamp.

Meanwhile my friend was not so lucky. He just arrived today and did not bring his passport out. He could not speak Thai as well. His checking officer came over and told me he did not have any identification/passport with him. Tried to be funny and wanted to ask for some "money". I turned to my Friend and asked him if he had at least a screenshot of his biodata page. He searched and showed. The officers said he could have at least the entry stamp like I did. I told them he just arrived evening and did not expect to encounter a road block. At last, officer knew that I know my stuff and rights thus told us to move on

Lesson learnt , do have biodata/visa/arrival stamp taken and kept in smartphone if u do not wish to bring your passport out. officer upon seeing me prepared with the photos and complied by emptying my pockets did not hassle me for anything. Also speaking Thai helps as I was able to reply where I came from/ etc. As well as replied for my Friend.

didn't read all the post.. but i used to backpack thailand alot few years back..

came across a 2nd generation thai farang. he is helping farang with property etc.

in a nutshell, there is a way to get back the use of land after buying the land with ur thai wife. sorta of like buy and leaseback.

basically, u buy the land under ur thai wife name. thereafter immediately sign a leaseback of land to you for lifetime.

this was a few years back, not sure how is the law now..

yes.. but it is still under your wife name.. you are only leasing the house.

Thai is a tonal language .. it's virtually impossible to learn the proper pronunciation from just written words.

There are enough YouTube channels out there with contents which has both anglicized writing and Thai speaking that would be better venue to learn basic Thai.
