Hi. Another update. Just for those to compare if you want to use youtrip in places that accept credit card in Taiwan. I used youtrip to pay a few times in the past few days, exchange rate used by youtrip is 22.55. I find Taiwan is still very much a country still using cash. So still need to draw some cash in places that don't accept cash. I don't see a lot of locals using cashless modes other than easy card as well. Hope this helps.

so most of the ATM outside available to withdraw? all same rate which follow mastercard right?

No. It depends on which fintech card you use.

YouTrip card can be used to withdraw cash from any overseas ATM that displays the Mastercard®, Maestro® and/or Cirrus® logos. Withdrawal fee each time is S$5 or equivalent. Youtrip is using wholesale Mastercard rates.

Other cards may or may not have overseas ATM withdrawal fees. They may use Mastercard or Visa rates, mid-market rates or some other rates. Some cards also have fees for each transaction.

Wow. 22.55 is very good rate.

Agree. Card will be mostly used at bigger shops and restaurants. If go night markets or small shops, then need to use cash.

So big tickets like those bakeries, carrefour etc.
So it still make sense to load some money in for such shopping stuff.
Not sure or dun recall if we can reload our 悠遊卡 by cc boh.

Yes better change cash, some restaurants say only cash. Night market store also accepts only cash.

If you go zoo, attraction places entrance fees most can use credit card or easy card

Today's rate at arcade for TWD is about 21.

I only managed to change TWD$21.97... Most of the money changer either is 21.08 to 21.93 or no stock... Not sure why... I only checked 2nd level...

i change at around 22.15 at bedok on around 30/11. Not sure why the rate are so low at arcade.

your 1k SGD is nothing to a money changer to be honest....
Not sure why you even bother to believe them or choose to believe in unrealistic rates

The money changer at Taoyuan airport was 22.0+ last week, but there is a small fee of NT30. For now, I would advise against changing money in Singapore. Get a fintech card if you still have time.

I took a leap of faith after reading this thread and decided not to change much cash and used Revolut for my trip. My withdrawal and credit card rates were both 22.5+. I used the ATM inside Family Mart (Cathay) for withdrawal. 7-11's (Bank of Taiwan?) had an ATM fee. I was staying in XMD, so ATMs were easy to find within convenience stores.

Lately cold hard cash really sucks.
Not sure If i want to put more into youtrip so that i can withdraw them.
Or just use it as a flash payment.
Today scoot flight out is pretty packed.

Question on Youtrip card. I was trying to find out how to activate the card for overseas payment but cannot find. Is it by default already activated for overseas payment already?

for revolut card, do you make multiple small withdrawals? or one big withdrawl? understand the withdrawal fee is free for first 350sgd and 2% charge for >350sgd? thanks!
