think the rates at any airport would be low !!!

While that may be the case in most airports, the same does not apply to Taoyuan. The rates offered by Megabank are very competitive and you may be able to get a better rate (as compared to the local moneychangers) if you change above a certain amount, given that the savings can easily offset the transaction fee.

What better rates?
All controlled and reflected at counter.
Cannot possibly give you 22.66, when counter rate is 22.65, no matter what is your amount.

I went to change at the TW DBS Bank on 3 Aug in Taizhong. They charged me 1 percent of the amount changed. Total they charged me about NT 1600 plus End up,the rate wasnt so attractive.
I still remember previously in Nov 2013, when i changed in TW DBS, there isnt any charge at all.
Charge u 1600ntd?
Got receipt to prove?
That is almost 70 dollars. Did you ask before proceeding with the transaction?
Knowing such amount, I would have gone elsewhere.

I said "as compared to local moneychangers". You do realise that as you change a higher quantum, the effective exchange rate becomes better given that the transaction fee is fixed?

Maybe because change with high amount of money? Coz if I'm changing like 7k, it's around NTD1600 too, if rate is 22.8, which I think it's quite high..

It may seems high. But when you break it down, it still beats changing with them then changing with Banks in Taiwan, less DBS.

Eg:
Megabank: 22.66, needs to minus 30NT per transaction.
DBS: 23.078 after 1% off, you still gets like 22.84!

Tell me that DBS is not offering a better deal.

I used to change locally when rates used to be higher than what ever is offer in Taiwan.
But no longer in recent cases.

So for now, no matter whatever transaction fees is mentioned, still cannot beat losing some small amount in Taiwan.

Will advise for all to pool the money together, so that you will only lose 30NT each time you change at airport in Taoyuan or Kaohsiung.

Yup yup, when I was doing the calculation, DBS still offer a better rate overall after the 1%. So DBS Taiwan..Singapore rate is so poor now.

Of course, check again when need to change, you never know if the tide will change.
