In this documentary, the people in the experiment has heart problems.. They mentioned that they felt much better:

hope this little info helps your dad. Is he type 1 or 2?

My mum's TYPE 2 diabetic too.. I understand it's very difficult to convince older generation to change their mind. Will you buy a glucometer to monitor his blood glucose for him as to proof to him lchf works? fish oil supplements are always good for heart I read.
how old is your mum ? I am over 60s?

like i said, old people only listen to their doctors.

This taiwanese is male, Dr Sung ? Himself was obese and if look at his history on internet , can see the before and after photo,

I followed him for a certain time , as he explained most the Banting award winning doctor's lecture into layman's language which can be useful to your mum.

He used to be pro LCHF & keto but think now solely on his 1/4, 1/4 & 1/2 which is basically HPB My Healthy plate or USA My plate.

SO if your mum understand Chinese, & doctors... than he fit your mum requirement ?

anyway just a suggestion, and at the same time I saw that this thread has stop, so thought I reply here instead of the previous thread.

Lastly there is nothing wrong if your mum is taking medication, as all about lowering the risk of diabetic complications and I myself have done for 19 plus years and seems didn't impact me much, question of selecting according to one lifestyle, no right or wrong.

I think there are also a lot of tiktok videos that have quite easy to understand explanation of LCHF - what high carb foods not to eat etc

Even some very highly educated folks only listen to their doctors and dare not to do their own research hahah
If you know any of them, can point to many low carb doctors that are based in USA, where lots of them are definitely highly qualified medically compared to those of their doctors ?

No use - many of them are "sheep", they only listen to their doctors and dare not to venture out on their own

We are all learning new things every day - science doesn't sit still and new evidence can invalidate an old idea/theory pretty quickly ;)

I don't have any personal experience with diabetes so I am not in a good position to comment/advise etc

But if anyone really needs help, I follow this guy on Facebook - Jeff Cyr - he always shares his own battle with diabetes and how he has reversed it and kept it off for years

Yes I follow them, I actually have moved on from ketogenic and low carbs, now I am eating at least TC 100g to as high as 180g per day, basically adjusting upwards carbs & protein and reducing fats FYI.

Once we fixed our metabolic issue, I think we can slowly switch back to having good carbs in our diets

Of course, there's nothing wrong with sticking with ketogenic or low carbs - I personally find that I function better on ketones as a fuel source than carbs, hence my meals are usually low carb and high protein

I also don't have any issues taking some carbs if I "have" to - no issues switching back to burning ketones and it's not as bad as some hard-core LCHFers believed it to be

Yes, In fact I am still getting blood ketones reading even at higher carbs. Here is the link , was exchanging views with @Eien_kisu , but that was my last blood ketone strips. Will buy again when I travel to China later part of the year. This brand has a 2 years expiry date compared with the branded ones which is short.
