I'm torn between this X1 model and the Sony NWZ A17 or A15 ($399, $299).
The sony one has everything i want, bluetooth and expansion slot.

I just gotten Champange X1 after some considerations...

Great budget DAP! Used to use my phone for music.

But I would like to ask if I need to upgrade my earphones...
Currently using cheapo Mi Piston Rose gold ones... Sounds OK to me. Clear and bassy.

Edit: I have m50x for home listen but its so ugly to bring out... Need portable option.

Go to Stereo or other earphones shops and try out other earphones! Just tell them what you're looking for and they can recommend you if you're not sure what to look for.

You can try E1, ConnectIT, Jaben, Song Brothers, AV-One, Stereo.

Pls google for their locations and opening hours

Any opinions on E1 and ConnectIT? As I have never bought their products fear it will be another Newstead...no offences intended.

Alternatively I can go Sony flagship store and Stereo to test Fiiox1 and Sony A15. Just wondering if there will be price difference. And whether salesman can advise on SD card. Or does E1 or ConnectIT even sell the SD card?

I suggest you go straight down to AV ONE to test it out; after all everyone have different meanings of "good SQ"

I am not sure what songs they have cos' I use my own Why not use the microSD card from your phone on the display device (make sure it is FAT32 for best compatibility)?

I have no SD card..using iphone.=( Or do u have full name of the SD card to buy? Recommended for 128GB. Or any Samsung SD card will do? Sony SD or Sandisk SD better?

I'm trying to rip WAV and FLAC using EAC.

There's this option under Wave option. Double channel on mono playback...do I check that?
What does that sentence mean...does it make the music on both L and R side, making it appear duplicate/ L and R at the same time.

Cause it seems to sound different. Very confused. maybe kiasu I shld rip with both options into wav and flac.

Just got myself the X1, paired with Sennheiser Momentum in-ear last weekend. Sale.

For the price:

It is more than enough to satisfy the casual music fans.
I threw any flac (oldies) I could get my hands on (most of which are music I am not fan of) - only old Billy Joel's greatest hit was a disappointment, but I chalk it up to the rip. Oh, and Beethoven - think this one needs a studio - outside the price range of the average Joe.

I was shocked by dinosaurs such as John Denver, Shania Twain and Neil Diamond (who?). The bass, the clarity....

Also found out that "portable" doesn't mean it is good on public transport, "noise cancellation" in-ear notwithstanding. Those public transports will cancel your noise cancellation. Portable translates to: sitting on the beach, lying on the bed (alone ) or fishing by a river.

And, oh- it died yesterday. Resurrected it with a pin-poke. Scary...
