drawback is too many members during peak hours caused an issue of overcrowded

I have been with FF for years and just realised this AIA 20% discount thing ! I have had AIA policies for donkey years and never realised it.

Anyway went to renew my contract at 20% . When I asked how long will this collaboration go on for - and they said they signed on 3 year contract with AIA. Apparently there is another 1 year to go.

Now the big question is, what happens when the collaboration end ? Does the member fee returns to its full price then ?

Answer - likely so.

Exiting memebership is $185.
I have been paying $175 due to old membership at slight incremental rates. Now that I have renewed this 20% discount contract. I loose my $175 and may have to go back to the $185.

After 20% discount fee drops to $130++ . So decided to renew and save on at least a year of over $360+.

Just remember that the AIA collaboration is not for life. It’s as Long as it last. Hopefully when their collaboration ends, they continue !

But damn, they have really strategic and convenient locations for most of their branches

Of course. I don't think they will tell you upfront that they are on contractual agreement with AIA when you sign up, but it was one of the first thing that I asked because there is no free lunch in Singapore and its' too good to be forever on discount.

Before AIA, they were partnered with AVIVA according to the receptionist I spoke to.

The idea is to get you hook to FF for that few years of contractual partnership. After that when the partnership ends, hopefully you may get addicted to the gym lifestyle and will have no choice but to continue paying full price.

You could of course take up a new insurance policy with whomever they are partnering up with next to continue enjoying discounts off your membership - but either way it's win win for them and money still goes out of your pocket to either the gym or to the insurance company.

Marketing 101 I guess.

based on what i know about aia vitality, in the past, when aia vitality left true fitness, true fitness offer those on the aia vitality programme, wih the rate they used to be, and for perpectual period which equivalent to life time member at a subsidise rate.

However, this time, unsure how fitness first will do. they might end up be like true fitness partnet ship when they partner with aia for a total of 5 years.

Highly doubt after fitness first, got any major gym would want to partner under the program. Afterall, those on aia vitality are usually just there to clock points.

IMO - Yes. Unless they are feeling generous like True Fitness as per the previous poster mentioned who continue to provide the discounted rate to their members even when partnership contract is up. I just wonder why because I never believe in a free lunch or in this case - a lifetime of discounted lunch.

Once the contract is up, FF can decide to charge however they want whether. I'm sure the fine prints is hidden somewhere...I have not looked it up but don't forget there is never a free lunch on earth. Nobody is gonna give anyone a discount without an agenda.

I didn't realised the partnership for a long time even though I always had an AIA policy and that's why I noticed an increase number of members over the last 2 years. A number of them also seem to work together which I suspect is probably corporate discounts ?

Many of them start to form social circles among themselves or get addicted to going to the training and classes. Before you realised it, going to the gym becomes a huge part of one's social lifestyle. By the time partnership contract expires and FF decides to increase rates back to the original, you would be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Myself included !

i was previously from true fitness, non-aia vitality membership. currently, with fitness first, using the aia vitality program. switching to fitness first was easy for me since true fitness at my work place was closed due to them having to retrofit, i do not like the idea of pre-payment upfront, and there are quite a few outlet for fitness first, near my work place and home. (however, many would have know i do not have pleasent experience in fitness first)

i reckon, whether to continue with fitness first after aia vitality contract with them, will depends on who aia vitality will partner with, next, and the cost, and what fitness first offer. then again, the 2x voucher weekly under the vitality program allows me to have at least 2 cups of bullet coffee every week.

separately, what i observed is that a lot of those member under those vitality program, main purpose was not to work out but to earn points. so most of them will just check in, hog machine while using phone, and etc, that inadvertently resulted gym that partner with the aia vitality program to be fully packed. maybe i'm wrong, but that was based on the observation, i observed.

try to avoid 6-7pm during weekday
