Nope - I am saying that the numbers by themselves don't mean anything - it is the ratios that are more important...
Not only tat, but also the trends.
High total cholesterol is not a good gauge of health - if you have high HDLs, then it's only logic that total cholesterol will go up
Agreed. My total cholesterol now was higher than 2 months ago, but the increase is mostly due to increase in HDL (luckily). LDL actually dropped marginally.
And LDLs is just an estimation and is very dependent on your triglycerides - but if you have very good (low) triglycerides, then the formula wrongly estimates your LDLs
However as long as your triglycerides are very low, chances are your LDLs are the large fluffy stuff
Carey, can you explain the 2 statements above further?
For the 1st statement, are you saying that it is actually more impt to have good triglycerides (low value) than to have a low LDL?
+ If triglycerides is low, then the LDL reading tends to be higher than wat it should be?
Also, wat is large fluffy stuff? And why large fluffy stuff if triglycerides is low? Low as in low reading which is good?
