Balance Sheet (大时代 Style)

Just did a simple calculation on leveraging up + ample margin to withstand fluctuations aka NO STOP LOSS. The ratio is approximately 13.6 times. Actual leverage is 1:33. But to play extreme level I need to have 13.6 times (with ample margin factor in) in order to withstand NO STOP LOSS fluctuations.

Current balance sheet US$720,000 worth of contracts with some excess margin balance and unrealised loss of -US$20,000.

TOTAL CONTRACT SIZE: US$720,000
TOTAL POSSIBLE CONTRACT SIZE: US$2,923,132

If I deploy other liquid assets into Forex and go all in like Ding Xie (see avatar) I can open a total of US$2,923,132 worth of contracts at 13.6 times of leverage to withstand NO STOP LOSS fluctuations!

Projected annual earnings base on past ROI performance is about S$209,000! However the projected unrealised loss will be 4 times more at about -US$80,000. Like that 划算吗? :s13:

Hi Mr Canberra, did you do some stress test of your portfolio for extreme moves due to black swan events like in 2015, SNB removed the Swiss peg to the Euro?

My positions of 13.6 times of leverage (with ample margin factor in) have been stress tested through US Presidential Election, countless FOMC meetings, Brexit, etc. :s13:

I mostly only trade USD pairs. Even as far back as during the 2008 GFC the fluctuations of USD major pairs have been pretty reasonable.

He gets swap points, so the USDTRY, TRY interest rates are very good, so it is worth it I guess.

if it is worth it, everyone would be jumping into the trade including you.

There are reasons why certain currencies have high interest rates. E.g. Malaysia and Indonesia have fixed deposits that are gives 6-10% per year, but why don't everyone flock to deposit their money with them?

I also have position on TRY. My calculation is if it doesn't drop further, I would still need to collect 1 year of swap just to break even! And that's provided the interest rates do not drop or the currency do not drop even further!

Argentina currently has an interest rate of 40%!

EUR/USD

TRY bloodbath but kio US$81.00 KFC profit from EUR/USD short. :s13:

TRY long swap gain is good due to risk premium but punting EM currencies is like catching a falling knife if stand on wrong side of the trade. Not for the faint hearted. :D

Shorting the following pairs with EUR/TRY and USD/RUB leading in the bloodbath. Each pair already collected few hundred USD for swap but the TRY and RUB depreciation is faster than the swap gains can catch up. LOL! :s13:

EUR/TRY (0.1 Lot)
USD/RUB (0.1 Lot)
USD/ZAR (0.1 Lot)

EM Currencies Rout

Major manipulation going on this week. US Dollar Index is too strong. Even low profile KRW also got implicated in the crossfire! :s13:

Woke up and see current unrealised loss -US$23,000!

Close shop for the week as margin running low.

Ai zai lah mai chua sai. You guys still remember the week when USD lao sai? This week is EM currencies turn. :s13:

Big boys setting up for tonight's US data. If good data they will take profit and dump USD or at least muted moves. If you have stop loss orders you will lose money tonight. Insufficient margin better close shop first.

Yes I was quite surprised when EUR/USD just dropped below 1.15. Last night I closed for small profit at 1.15623 as afraid will rebound towards 1.16 but who knows today...

EUR/USD drop is good because EUR/TRY will not be one way traffic. The market will equalise at some point either by rationality or central bank intervention. TRY rout is due to politics but the economy is fundamentally strong.

Yes USD lao sai around 1 month but during that week the pace was fast like what we see today.
