Fed Interest Rates Decide World Economic Fate

Can explain in more laymen terms for me?

How would the market correct itself?

I presume the higher rate would result in fund flows back into US, i.e. a vicious cycle of global equity meltdown --> cash is king --> basically we should continue to long USD?

I feel that this article on AFC backdrop is really very similar to world economy situation now, especially on the part on US rate hike and property price.

1997: AFC triggered by property bust in Thailand and US rate hike
2007: GFC triggered by home loan bust in US
2017: Nothing happened
2018: Property sector showing signs of recovery, record enbloc price etc.

Basically, it seems like all major crisis are triggered by asset bubble and it can more or less be linked back to property price.

You have answered the question yourself. The highly leveraged real estate asset bubble is usually the cause.

It seems like we are on a tipping point. But US policy maker are definitely not dumb as well. If I can notice this, they can definitely notice this as well.

Come on they are PHD economists and definitely not dumb. The market will crash when they want it to crash if not how bankers make their money? :s13:

These days with the major central banks screwing up the whole world there is no point holding on to one currency exclusively. Learn from MAS by maintaining a basket of major currencies to hedge.

1) Leverage or non-leverage?

2) Time frame? You must break it down to the time frame you want to hold a certain currency. Some can hold very long term but some only short to mid term.

3) Some currency pairs such as EUR/TRY (leverage short) you do a carry trade for the interest yield but does not mean you can hold for long term. Another example is SGD (non leverage) you can hold for very long term as the path is gradual appreciation bias but generates peanut yields. It needs to appreciate gradually to catch up with inflation.

No currency is safe when there is a major crisis. Only gold will soar. :s13:

The phrase CASH IS KING is overhyped. CASH IS KING is only when you know how to leverage it with almost zero funding cost.

1:1 is also cash.
1:500 is also cash but on leverage with risk involved especially NO STOP LOSS!

~'QE' stimulus target US$1 Million balance sheet. No set deadline and not affected by Fed balance sheet reduction schedule.
~Partial asset rotation from CNY Fixed Income to Forex Trading in 2018 due to consistent increased ROI.

As my above mandate my current balance sheet has increased to US$610,000 worth of contracts. US$1 Million balance sheet will realise by 2019 I believe.

Offloading some CNY to SGD this month. The time has come to trim some CNY assets from my portfolio although only a very tiny fraction. Too overweight on CNY assets so reduce some risk plus fund my Forex trading to reach my target amount for balance sheet.

Nothing furthur to report. Everything is according to plan. Life is good the Mr.Canberra way. Looking at air ticket deals for month end jiak hong trip. :s13:

Life is good the Mr.Canberra way with the help of leveraging. :s13:

If you know what you are doing then you can exploit it on a perpetual basis just like Fed lending cheap money to the big US banks at almost zero interest rates for 10 years already!

Most people like to read a company's annual report and buy stocks but I prefer to focus on interest and exchange rates. These are very basic and fundamental observations. If you understand this fundamental it will feed through all aspects of financial assets.

I have unrealised losses of US$10,000+ on average daily. Latest swap interest payable for the month of Apr 2018 is US$26.00 for US$610,000 worth of contracts. Some currency pairs gain and some pay swap. Most people already have mortgage loan interest higher than that.

Mr.Canberra have humble hard assets and zero debt. LOL! :s13:

let's not forget uncle trump is a business man :D

Later at 2:00am he will make a speech on the Iran deal. :s13:

EUR/USD

EURO-DOLLAR: EURUSD erodes European morning gains and extends the corrective pullback to fresh daily lows of $1.1906. A break of $1.19 can look to retest yesterday's lows at $1.1898, opening a deeper move toward the $1.1850 area.

EUR/USD crashing again!

EUR/USD

EURO-DOLLAR: Continued supply on the break of $1.19 has seen EURUSD touch fresh 2018 lows of $1.1883. The MNI FX Technical Signal monitor is currently showing a near clean sweep of bearish signals with next support seen at $1.1855 from the Dec 27 low. Last $1.1889.

Triggered my profit target at 1.1888. Easy US$175 raked in hahaha. :s13:

Short hor yi si on every rise is still in play. The bears are back. EUR/USD is a no brainer because once the manipulation direction is set the trend will follow through over an extended period of time.

Big boys target now shifted to 1.15. Just 4 months ago big boys talking up EUR/USD to 1.30. :s13:

Use your own judgement. Study the charts on daily and weekly basis.

Near term bearish but the retracement coming soon.

AUSSIE: Takes another leg lower to $0.7454 after S&P said the long-term Australian sovereign outlooks remains negative. The underlying tone remains heavy with demand seen on approach to $0.7450.

all eyes on 2am Trump ma...

and EUR/USD prata again after morning bullish :s13:

Just catch another US$100 (10 pips) with a EUR/USD long. Risky move and initially down 30 pips but when oil plunged the retracement happened. EUR/USD is trading at pivot point now. :s13:

Total realised profit US$377.75 for the day.

Hmm, can I ask how does oil affect USD? What will happen if trump back out? Can’t see to get the info online or maybe didn’t search that hard!
