Idk leh.
My grip width very different from my friends.
I place the first intersection of my thumb at the first "rough part" of the bar.

Something like this

I use the same grip width as you. I can bench more this way than with a wider grip (despite the smaller ROM)

Gala is asking if your grip width applies to conventional DL or Sumo DL.

Anyway my group width is same as you, for conventional I assume.

How grip width affect one's DL depends on length of your larks, torso and lower limbs.
Usually the taller the starting position, the easier.

But then it also depends on one's sticking point, whether it's the initial leg-drive or near lock-out.

Don't remember my Deadlift grip,
usually just place it beside my knees.

You have a pretty narrow grip, so either you're pulling sumo style (grip between legs), or the feet width of your setup is really narrow.

For such narrow bench grip, you must have some serious front delt and tri.

Context is all messed up....

Huh? Someone talked about benching mah, then i continue on talking about my grip width for my bench lor. Don't know how it become grip width for deadlift :s22:

Not sure about that, but my tricep is pretty weak if u ask me. I think my delts are pretty weak too:s22:

Anyway, my grip is like this.

Sorry, don't know why I thought you were referring to deadlift. Anyway, for bench, that grip width is fine. Mine's about the same. In fact it's even closer together. My hands are at the edge of the knurls.

@Frozt, your grip width is fine. My Bench grip about the same as yours, maybe slighty closer and I am taller with presumably longer arms. The issue with a narrow grip is that the bar has a long distance to travel from the chest to lockout which means less weight can be used than if you train with a wide grip which reduces the ROM. I am however more comfortable with such a grip as opposed to a much wider one.

A wider one kinda forces you to flare your elbows too right? How does one tuck elbows in with a wide grip?

Check out vids of those powerlifting dudes they seem to take a very wide grip and yet tuck the elbows and seem to pull the bar down. This is most evident in the geared lifters.

I just looked at my vids in my log - I do not flare my elbows when I bench but do not consciously have to tuck them in either prob because my grip is narrow so it comes naturally but my ex training partner who was about 6 inches shorter than me takes a much wider grip than me but he makes it a point to tuck his elbows in especially on the descent. IIRC his forearms are not perpendicular to the bar.
